Hudson River Community Credit Union
\n(HRCCU) announced the winners of its
\n2013 College Scholarship and Making Life
\nBetter Scholarship contests.<\/p>\n
Each of the following student members
\nreceived a $1,000 scholarship: Jenna
\nAkerley, Corinth Central School; Andrea
\nBrenner,Shenendehowa High School; James
\nCampbell, Saratoga Springs High School;
\nand Rebecca Sheely, Schuylerville High
\nSchool.<\/p>\n
Allison Cirenza, Saratoga Springs High
\nSchool, and Lauren Bolz, Queensbury High
\nSchool, each received a $500 scholarship.
\nCynthia Cappello, South Glens Falls High
\nSchool, was awarded $1,000 for the Making
\nLife Better Scholarship. <\/p>\n
Eligible candidates were required to be high school seniors planning to attend an accredited college or university in the fall and be HRCCU members-in-good-standing. Applicants were judged on their academic performance, extracurricular and community activities, honors and awards, employment experience, length of HRCCU membership and essay question. For the Making Life Better Scholarship, members were judged on their community service involvement and essay question.<\/p>\n
“We had a tremendous response and these seven winning students show exemplary accomplishments in and out of the classroom,” said Susan Commanda, chief executive officer. “HRCCU is proud to provide scholarships for these very deserving young adults and wishes them the best of luck in their future endeavors.”<\/p>\n
The HRCCU College Scholarship Program began in 1994 to promote and foster the educational endeavors of the credit union’s young members. To date, 71 area students have benefitted from the program with awards totaling $57,500, according to the credit union.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
