iRun Local, a running and walking
\nspecialty store, held its grand opening in
\ndowntown Saratoga Springs on March 28.<\/p>\n

The business, at 18 Congress St., offers
\nrunning and walking shoes, seasonal fitness
\napparel, and other running and walking
\naccessories.
\nJamie Mastroianni, owner and founder,
\nsaid the store provides runners and walkers
\nwith educated direction on the proper gear
\nfor their unique styles.<\/p>\n

“Saratoga Springs boasts a rich running
\ntradition with the state champion
\n[Saratoga High School] Blue Streaks, the
\nSaratoga Stryders running club, and weekly
\norganized races. This city deserves a running
\nspecialty store,” she said. <\/p>\n

“We believe that by providing gear that looks great, feels great, maximizes performance, and helps prevent injuries, we’ll encourage runners and walkers to increase their activity, resulting in better health. Our mission is to introduce new runners to the sport and make experienced runners better.”<\/p>\n

The store “creates a welcoming atmosphere for all athletes, with an emphasis on the local community,” the owner said. It features a “community wall” that details outreach events and opportunities, highlighting local organizations that provide relief and restoration for the community, such as the Franklin Community Center and the Wilton Food Pantry.<\/p>\n

The store also uses the latest technology to improve runners’ form, through the use of video analysis of running technique. It also provides access to expert advice and training programs from high school and college coaches, said Mastroianni.<\/p>\n

Store hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday noon to 4:00 p.m. It is closed Mondays.<\/p>\n
