Area contractors, builders and remodelers won’t have to trek down the Northway for exterior building materials and roofing supplies now that Beacon Sales has opened a showroom in Saratoga Springs.<\/p>\n

Jim Perella, Beacon’s national director of sales, said his company can provide virtually any exterior building product. “From the foundation to the roof, everything on the outside of the home, we can supply it,” he said.<\/p>\n

Beacon’s North Country branch, housed in the former Ellsworth Ice Cream storage building at 195 Perry Road, off Exit 15 of the Northway, has some 35,000 square feet of storage space, where builders will find residential and commercial roofing supplies, fiber cement siding, windows, PVC trim, columns, exterior doors, decking and railing.<\/p>\n

The Saratoga Springs location has an interior showroom where builders
\ncan bring their customers to inspect Beacon’s many offerings.<\/p>\n

Beacon is “heavily inventoried” in both steep slope roofing shingles,
\nfor residential properties, and low slope supplies for flat roof
\nbuildings, said Perella.<\/p>\n

“We have extensive product in roofing material and all the accessories that go along with it,” he added.<\/p>\n

Perella said Beacon offers fiber cement siding as a replacement for wood
\nand vinyl siding for the exterior of homes. He described cement siding
\nas a “very low-maintenance product that can come with pre-finish options
\nwith extended warranties on the paint and finish.”
\nCement siding, he said, will last two to three times as longs as its
\nvinyl counterpart.<\/p>\n

Beacon’s fleet of trucks can provide rooftop or ground drop delivery of
\ntheir products and also offers expedited and convenient pick up of
\nmaterials at its Saratoga Springs location, said Perella.<\/p>\n

A number of factors brought Beacon to Saratoga Springs, Perella explained.<\/p>\n

“We certainly feel like all of the economic indicators are present, such
\nas population growth, businesses coming here and new housing starts.
\nAlso, there are a large number of existing homes that need the
\nreplacement products that we offer. Products that go on homes have a
\nlife cycle,” he said. “In addition, we felt that this market was
\nunderserved by specialty wholesalers like Beacon. Right now, our current
\ncompetitors are clustered in the Albany area. We want to be right in
\nthe middle of where the business is.”<\/p>\n

Beacon Sales now has 249 branches in 39 states and six Canadian
\nprovinces. Perella said plans are to open locations in every major
\nmetropolitan area across the U.S. The company was founded in Somerville,
\nMass. in 1928.<\/p>\n

According to Perella, Beacon is “committed to providing localized,
\nexceptional service, developing long-lasting relationships with
\ncontractors and being a good neighbor in the greater Saratoga
\ncommunity.”<\/p>\n
