He<br \/>\nearned a master&#8217;s degree in management from<br \/>\nRPI in 1967. He began his career with General<br \/>\nElectric in 1959. He was a test engineer for<br \/>\nthe rocket engine design testing program for<br \/>\nMalta Test Division in Malta. He continued to<br \/>\nwork in various engineering and management<br \/>\npositions at GE for the next 13 years.<br \/>\nIn 1972, he left GE to form Munter Enterprises,<br \/>\na general contracting construction<br \/>\noperation.<\/p>\n<p>Over four decades later, the business<br \/>\ncontinues under the leadership of Munter&#8217;s two sons, John E. and Mike, both with civil<br \/>\nengineering degrees.<\/p>\n<p>Munter has supported Clarkson in several<br \/>\nareas. He is a Roundtable member of the<br \/>\nClarkson Fund. In the fall of 2012, Clarkson<br \/>\ncelebrated the dedication of the Munter<br \/>\nTrails, which provide the campus and local<br \/>\ncommunity with spectacular views of Fall<br \/>\nIsland and convenient access to the Raquette<br \/>\nRiver, while enhancing an overall sense of<br \/>\nconnection with the river. He played a critical<br \/>\nrole in this project, as he spent countless<br \/>\nhours working on the trails with equipment<br \/>\nloaned by Munter Enterprises, according to<br \/>\ncollege officials.<\/p>\n<p>Munter has served on the board of directors<br \/>\nat Wesley Health Care Center as the chairman<br \/>\nof building and grounds for almost a decade.<\/p>\n<p>He currently serves as vice chairman at<br \/>\nSaratoga PLAN, which works to preserve farm<br \/>\nland and open space throughout Saratoga<br \/>\nCounty for recreational use.
