Greenfield Manufacturing Inc., a contract
\nchemical manufacturing company, is building
\na new facility in the Grande Industrial Park in
\nSaratoga Springs. The company got approval from
\nthe Saratoga County Industrial Development
\nAgency last month.<\/p>\n
Greenfield produces several environmentally
\nconscious materials for use in manufacturing
\nincluding, for example, an oil additive, made out
\nof 80 percent coconut oil, a renewable resource.<\/p>\n
Greenfield also produces eco-friendly marine
\ncoatings for boats and other watercraft.<\/p>\n
The company will build a 33,000-square-foot
\nfacility, complete with laboratory space and
\nproduction areas. The space will allow for a more
\nstreamlined production process. The facility will
\nbe self-contained, so that if an accident were to
\nhappen, it could be controlled inside the building.
\nMunter Enterprises Inc. of Middle Grove will
\nbe the contractor for the project. Munter also
\nowns Grande Industrial Park.<\/p>\n
Currently, Greenfield Manufacturing is currently
\nrenting space in the industrial park. “We’ve
\noutgrown the infrastructure” said Dan O’Rourke,
\ngeneral manager at Greenfield Manufacturing.
\nThe company has been based in Saratoga
\nSprings for 15 years.<\/p>\n
Along with an expansion of a facility, Greenfield
\nManufacturing plans to add one new
\nemployee each year for the next three years.
\nCurrently they employ 10 people.<\/p>\n
“Greenfield Manufacturing is a good community
\npartner” said O’Rourke. “All of our employees
\nlive in the Ballston Spa and Saratoga Springs
\narea. We look forward to creating more jobs and
\nbuilding ties in our community.”<\/p>\n
Greenfield Manufacturing is committed to
\nsafety within their industry. They are members
\nof both the Grande Industrial Park Safety
\nCommittee and the Local Emergency Planning
\nCommittee.<\/p>\n
Last month the company was seeking a
\n$525,000 tax abatement to help offset the costs
\nof building the manufacturing plant, as well
\nas a $2.6 million mortgage to fund the project.
\nO’Rourke did not have the details regarding these
\naspects of the project.<\/p>\n
Construction is slated to begin in late November,
\ndepending on weather.
\n“We’re very excited” said O’Rourke. “This has
