Pam Worth, born and raised in Saratoga Springs, has more than 30 years of retail experience, dating back to her days as a manager and buyer at Sutton’s Marketplace in Queensbury.<\/p>\n

At Sutton’s, for more than 23 years,
\nshe managed 10,000 square feet of retail space, with diverse departments such as menswear, womenswear, jewelry, Vera Bradley, and more. She missed Saratoga Springs and wanted to create a business closer to where she grew up.<\/p>\n

In 2010, Worth opened Spoken Boutique at
\n27 Church St. The store is aimed at women between the ages of 40 to 60. Spoken Boutique
\noffers funky, unique, yet appropriate fashion
\nchoices for older women.<\/p>\n

Worth is passionate about what she does.
\nShe is not simply in the business of fashion, but
\nin the business of creating great customer service.
\nSimple things like greeting each woman
\nat the door, laying out her merchandise in a
\nlogical manner, and providing customers with
\nher undivided attention make guests feel more
\nwelcome, according to Worth.<\/p>\n

“What is most important is how you treat
\nyour customer,” said Worth.
\nShe listens to her customers and does her
\nbuying according to what they want. As a consumer
\nherself, Worth feels she has a good feel for items that her customers would like.<\/p>\n

“I am grateful for every single customer who
\nwalks in the door, whether she walks out with
\na Spoken bag or not,” said Worth. She believes
\nexcellent customer service keeps customers
\ncoming back.<\/p>\n

The store is large, with lots of natural lighting.
\nA spacious floor plan allows for customers
\nto walk through the racks with ease. Clothes
\nare high quality and come in fun, interesting
\npatterns.<\/p>\n

Spoken Boutique features a “lookbook” of
\ncurrent clothes. She also uses Facebook to post
\nphotos of her wares. Worth, her employees, and
\nher friends and family model the clothes themselves
\nin locations around Saratoga Springs,
\ncreating a down-to-earth, real-life portrayal of
\nwomen in her clothing.<\/p>\n

Some of the brands carried at Spoken
\ninclude Eva Varro, Ivy and Blue, Kensie, 525
\nAmerica, and Red Engine Denim.<\/p>\n

Worth aims to provide fashionable clothing
\nfor the women who shop at her store and is
\nsensitive to their needs.
\n“It’s not about [the size], it’s about being
\ncomfortable and confident,” said Worth.<\/p>\n

Spoken Boutique has a large customer base
\nin Saratoga, with other women coming from
\nAlbany, Vermont and Connecticut to shop,
\nshe said. Some women have been shopping
\nwith Worth since she was working at Sutton’s
\nMarketplace.<\/p>\n

With more than 30 years of retail experience,
\nWorth is no newcomer to the fashion industry,
\nbut admits that it is not always easy owning
\nher own business.
\n“It’s probably the hardest and most rewarding
\nthing I’ve ever done,” said Worth. “It’s a lot
\nto undertake. I balance a lot as mother, wife
\nand business owner.”<\/p>\n

Worth thanks her employees at Spoken for
\nhelping her to be so successful.<\/p>\n

Fall is one of Worth’s favorite seasons and
\nshe is getting prepared for the season with lots
\nof chunky sweaters, vests, scarves, hats, wool,
\nand neutral colors.<\/p>\n

On Oct. 25, Spoken Boutique will hold a fall
\nopen house as part of the Saratoga Downtown
\nBusiness Association Fall Festival. There will
\nbe face painting and other fun activities. For
