Thank you to Heather Briccetti and the Business<br \/>\nCouncil of New York state for bestowing this<br \/>\ngreat honor upon us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Business Council Chamber of the Year<br \/>\nAward is given each year to a Chamber that<br \/>\ndisplays a positive commitment to pro-business<br \/>\nactivities within their community and the state.<br \/>\nNominated Chambers are judged on factors<br \/>\nincluding: the quality programs and services<br \/>\nprovided, fiscal responsibility demonstrated,<br \/>\nand commitment to membership and the<br \/>\ncommunity.<\/p>\n<p>In the past year, officials said the Chamber<br \/>\nof Southern Saratoga County has grown its<br \/>\nmembership by 2.4 percent, adding 25 net<br \/>\nnew members, and in the past three years the<br \/>\nmembership growth has been 14.3 percent,<br \/>\nfrom 927 to 1,060.<\/p>\n<p>Its Saratoga County Community Development<br \/>\nProgram, conceived in 2012 and funded in<br \/>\npart by the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors,<br \/>\nresulted in several initiatives including<br \/>\nthe Historic Lock 19 preservation (2012) and<br \/>\nbridge construction (2013), the Brookside<br \/>\nMuseum Oral History Project (2013) and<br \/>\nLong Room restoration work (2014), initial<br \/>\nrecovery work at the historic Mechanicville<br \/>\nTrain Station (2013), the Waterford Community<br \/>\nBusiness Alliance (2013-&#8217;14), Charlton<br \/>\nCommunity Business Alliance (2014) and the<br \/>\npartnership with the VT Sail Freight Project<br \/>\nto deliver Saratoga County Farm products to<br \/>\ndownstate consumers.<\/p>\n<p>The Chamber is also a leading advocate for<br \/>\nthe Capital Region Maritime Center and efforts<br \/>\nto assist the U.S. Navy in better utilizing<br \/>\nthe facilities at the Alplaus location.
