Equitas Realty formally launched its new
\nreal estate brokerage at a ribbon-cutting event
\nOct. 9 at its offices, 38 High Rock Ave., Saratoga
\nSprings.<\/p>\n
Todd Shimkus, president of the Saratoga
\nChamber of Commerce, presided over the ceremony,
\nwith Janet Besheer, owner and broker;
\nJustin White, managing director, and Equitas
\nagents and staff.<\/p>\n
Company officials said the launch represents
\nits birth as an independent brokerage. Equitas
\nRealty over the last five years was one of the
\nleading brokerages in the greater Capital Region
\nas a local branch of a national franchise.<\/p>\n
At the event, Besheer outlined the reasons for
\nnot renewing the existing franchise agreement
\nand creating a modern, independent brokerage.
\n“We feel strongly that the traditional way of doing business is like a dinosaur trying to navigate
\na rapidly changing real estate landscape,”
\nshe said. “We plan to capitalize on technology
\nadvances, expand geographically, and are committed
\nto an innovative compensation model for
\nagents that is more equitable and more in tune
\nwith the future of the industry.”<\/p>\n
White announced an innovative two-tiered
\ncompensation system for the company. He said
\nagents already have the lowest brokerage fees
\nin the region, but Equitas has established a top
\ntier of advanced agents identified as “growth
\nassociates.”<\/p>\n
For those agents, sales performance and
\nrecruiting record qualifies them for cash distributions
\ncommensurate with their contributions
\nto the ongoing success of the firm, White said.<\/p>\n
