Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced a
\nTaste NY pilot marketing and branding
\nprogram to maximize exposure for wines,
\nspirits and ciders at liquor stores across
\nthe state.<\/p>\n

Taste NY promotional materials identifying
\nproducts as “Made in New York” are
\nalready on display in six liquor stores, and
\nwill soon be rolled out in dozens more across
\nthe state.
\nOne such location is Exit 9 Wine & Liquor
\nWarehouse, 9 Halfmoon Crossing, Halfmoon.<\/p>\n

“These new Taste NY displays will make
\nit easier than ever for customers to spot
\nsome of the best wine, spirits and ciders
\nin the world – all made right here in the
\nEmpire State,” Cuomo said.<\/p>\n

“New York’s
\ncraft beverage producers have experienced
\ntremendous growth during the past four
\nyears, and this program is the latest in
\nthis administration’s many efforts to keep
\nthe momentum going and foster additional
\ngrowth and job creation in this industry.”<\/p>\n

The Taste NY marketing and branding
\nprogram for liquor stores is a result of Cuomo’s
\nsecond Wine, Beer, Spirits and Cider
\nSummit, where industry feedback indicated
\nthat a more visible affiliation with New York
\nwould help maximize exposure and sales.<\/p>\n

The program includes Taste NY signage to
\nhighlight New York wine and spirit brands
\non shelves and encourages store owners to
\nbuild product displays highlighting the wide
\nvariety of New York brands.<\/p>\n

State Agriculture Commissioner Richard
\nA. Ball said the program “continues to
\nevolve in its efforts to expose New York agriculture
\nto the masses. Our latest foray into
\nliquor stores will help consumers identify
\nNew York state products with ease and in
\nturn help increase sales for our state’s hardworking
\nwineries, distilleries and cideries. Taste NY is in the right place at the right time for this booming, homegrown industry.”<\/p>\n

State Liquor Authority Chairman Dennis
\nRosen said the majority of new producers
\nentering the industry are small, often family
\nrun businesses lacking large marketing
\nbudgets, and “Taste NY has been instrumental
\nin promoting their products and
\nincreasing their sales.”<\/p>\n

The New York State Department of
\nAgriculture and Markets worked with the
\nNew York State Liquor Store Association to
\nidentify the pilot locations, and to roll out
\neven more marketing displays and materials
\nat two trade shows coming this month.<\/p>\n
