Sue Malinowski Catroppa will be honored at “An Evening For Children” fundraiser\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Chamber of Southern Saratoga and
\nthe Southern Saratoga Chamber Angels will
\nhold their largest fundraising event for the
\nyear’s holiday season, “An Evening for the
\nChildren,” 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov.
\n13, at the Mohawk River Country Club &
\nChateau in Rexford.<\/p>\n

This year, it will be celebrated as the
\nChamber’s 2nd Thursday evening mixer.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Chamber Angels are
\nhonoring Sue Malinowski Catroppa, executive
\ndirector, CAPTAIN Youth and Family
\nServices, for her years of compassionate
\nsupport of families and children in the
\nSaratoga County community.<\/p>\n

“Sue has been a great partner and fervent
\nsupporter to those who are most in
\nneed in our community,” said Chamber
\nPresident and CEO Pete Bardunias. “It is a
\nprivilege to honor her for the work she has
\ndone in support of the Chamber Angels as
\nwell as many worthy causes in our region.
\nWe believe the Chamber Angels represents
\nan important way to bring holiday cheer
\nto children of our financially challenged
\nfamilies.”<\/p>\n

Catroppa’s career includes her work at
\nCAPTAIN Youth and Family Services for the
\npast nine years, first as a member of the
\nboard of directors and currently as executive
\ndirector since 2010. Her career began
\nat the St. Anne Institute in Albany in the
\nearly 1980s. Since then, she has worked
\nfor a number of nonprofits serving children
\nand families including the state WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program
\nand the American Lung Association.<\/p>\n

She also served as director of education
\nfor 13 years at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy
\nand Saratoga Hospital. She is a member of
\nthe Twin Bridges Rotary, which led her to
\nvolunteer work at the Ronald McDonald
\nHouse in Albany. She also holds a position
\non the Clifton Park Halfmoon EMS board.<\/p>\n

The Southern Saratoga County Chamber
\nAngels, a charitable arm of the Chamber of
\nSouthern Saratoga County, provides holiday
\ngifts for children of families enduring
\nfinancial hardships. In its 25th year, the program provides for 2,000 children, from
\ninfant to age 18, in collaboration with the
\nSouthern Saratoga YMCA, Mechanicville
\nArea Community Services Center, CAPTAIN
\nYouth and Family Services and Franklin
\nCommunity Center.<\/p>\n

The children are identified through
\nschool districts and county agencies that
\nthen pass on the children’s ages and wishlists
\nto the Southern Saratoga County
\nChamber Angels.<\/p>\n

The Chamber of Southern Saratoga
\nCounty, the 2014 recipient of the New
\nYork State Chamber of the Year Award, is
\na membership-based business organization
\nrepresenting businesses in the region for
\n47 years.<\/p>\n
