Many<br \/>\npeople give flowers as gifts to loved ones, or<br \/>\nuse them to decorate their homes during this<br \/>\ntime of year.<\/p>\n<p>At The Country Florist, 225 Kingsley Road in<br \/>\nBurnt Hills, owner Arnie Maliszewski creates<br \/>\nbeautiful floral arrangements that are rustic.<br \/>\n&#8220;We like things a little more natural, country, European,&#8221; explained Maliszewski on his<br \/>\ninspiration for creating floral arrangements.<\/p>\n<p>Maliszewski and his staff often are involved<br \/>\nin decorating for new businesses, as well as<br \/>\nsending arrangements to new businesses in<br \/>\nthe area.<br \/>\n&#8220;If a new business opens and people want to<br \/>\nsend them plants or flowers, we do that,&#8221; said<br \/>\nMaliszewski.<\/p>\n<p>Jan Murphy has been operating Jan&#8217;s Florist<br \/>\nfor more than 23 years. Located at 460 Maple<br \/>\nAve. (Route 9), Saratoga Springs, her familyowned<br \/>\nshop provides quality floral arrangements<br \/>\nto customers.<\/p>\n<p>Business owners also enjoy her arrangements.<br \/>\nShe said some of the companies that<br \/>\nhave had floral arrangements designed by Jan&#8217;s<br \/>\ninclude the Saratoga Casino and Raceway and<br \/>\nSaratoga Hospital.<br \/>\n&#8220;We also do the inside of homes,&#8221; said<br \/>\nMurphy.<\/p>\n<p>With the holidays coming up, several people<br \/>\nare shopping for holiday flowers, either for<br \/>\nthemselves or for others. The staff at floral<br \/>\nshops have lots of practical advice when it<br \/>\ncomes to buying holiday flowers.<\/p>\n<p>The Posie Peddler is a family owned and<br \/>\noperated floral shop at 92 West Ave., Saratoga<br \/>\nSprings. Owner Gretchen Squires is the fourth<br \/>\ngeneration of her family to operate the shop.<\/p>\n<p>The Posie Peddler has a large walk-in cooler<br \/>\nof freshly cut flowers where customers enjoy<br \/>\ngoing into the building to pick out what types of<br \/>\nflowers they would like. The experience allows<br \/>\nguests to customize arrangements.<\/p>\n<p>Squires and her staff often do arrangements<br \/>\nfor businesses in the Saratoga Springs area, as<br \/>\nwell as create arrangements for occasions like weddings and funerals.<br \/>\n&#8220;Boxwood trees are our number-one sellers,&#8221;<br \/>\nsaid Squires. These trees are made of boxwood<br \/>\nand shaped to resemble miniature Christmas<br \/>\ntrees. The trees may be decorated in a similar<br \/>\nfashion.<\/p>\n<p>At The Country Florist, Maliszewski sells<br \/>\nseveral poinsettias, wreaths and Christmas<br \/>\ndecorations this time of year. He said many<br \/>\ncustomers choose traditional arrangements<br \/>\nin red, greens, and whites.<\/p>\n<p>While many customers order traditional decorations, there are just as many customers<br \/>\nwho want a unique floral gift.
