Mazzone Hospitality will donate proceeds
\nfrom two low-sugar desserts offered in each
\nof its restaurants to the American Diabetes
\nAssociation (ADA) 2015 Saratoga Springs
\nTour de Cure, a premier cycling event in the
\nCapital Region dedicated to finding a cure
\nfor diabetes.<\/p>\n
The desserts were created by Vivian
\nBrammer, pastry chef at Prime at Saratoga
\nNational, and feature lower sugar content for
\ndiners with diabetes. Both desserts cost $10
\nand will be available through Sunday, June 7,
\nthe day of the ride, at all Mazzone Hospitality
\nrestaurants.<\/p>\n
The desserts are: orange-infused panna
\ncotta covered with a dark chocolate ganache,
\nvanilla Chantilly and toasted hazelnuts; and
\ncrepes filled with a peanut butter mousse,
\ndrizzled with a warm dark chocolate ganache
\nand topped with caramelized bananas.<\/p>\n
The announcement came during a kick-off
\nparty at the new Mazzone Hospitality corporate
\nheadquarters in Clifton Park, as Brammer
\ntaught chefs from each Mazzone Hospitality
\nrestaurant how to make the desserts. This
\nmarks Mazzone Hospitality’s second charitable
\ndessert campaign to benefit the Tour
\nde Cure.<\/p>\n
“We are honored to support the efforts of the
\nAmerican Diabetes Association as they combat
\nthis disease that affects so many families
\nthroughout the nation,” said Angelo Mazzone,
\nowner of Mazzone Hospitality. “The Tour de
\nCure is a fun and healthy way to raise money
\nand awareness of diabetes and I’m proud that
\nwe can help this wonderful organization work
\ntoward a cure. I plan to be riding again on June
\n7 with the Mazzone Hospitality team.”<\/p>\n
During the launch event, the ADA provided
\ninformation to individuals interested
\nin participating in the 2015 Tour de Cure.<\/p>\n
Additionally, event attendees who signed up
\nto ride with the Mazzone Hospitality Tour de
\nCure team received a $20 gift card to Mazzone
\nHospitality.<\/p>\n
Mazzone is the chairman of the Tour de
\nCure Executive Committee and Mazzone Hospitality
\nwill be represented by 200 employees
\nwho plan to participate. For the past six years,
\nMazzone Hospitality has also provided lunch
\nto Tour de Cure riders and volunteers at the
\nend of the ride. Mazzone Hospitality’s team of
\n74 riders raised over $35,000 in 2014.<\/p>\n
“Angelo and Mazzone Hospitality have
\nbeen tremendous partners in our fight against
\ndiabetes and the deadly consequences of the
\ndisease,” said Denise Nicastro, event manager
\nof the Saratoga Springs Tour de Cure.<\/p>\n
“This event today serves as a great launching
\npoint for our efforts and we couldn’t be more
\nexcited for the Tour de Cure in 2015. We are
\ntruly thankful for all of our riders, volunteers
\nand community partners and hope to surpass
\nlast year’s fundraising effort with their help.”<\/p>\n
Ranked first in the state and second out
\nof 85 Tours nationwide, the Saratoga Springs
\nTour de Cure attracts more than 2,500 riders
\nand includes routes ranging from a 10-mile
\nFamily Fun Ride to a 100-mile Century Ride.<\/p>\n
The 2015 event will be held Sunday, June 7 at
\nSaratoga Springs High School. The registration
\nfee ranges from $15 for early bird to $25
\nfor day-of registration with a $200 fundraising
\nminimum.<\/p>\n
