United Way of the Greater Capital Region
\nhas committed $626,738 in grants to 26 programs
\nand services in Saratoga County aimed
\nat helping individuals and families meet their
\nbasic needs for food, shelter, and safety, and
\nimprove their education, income, and health.<\/p>\n
“We’re able to make these investments
\nthanks to the generous support of our community,”
\nsaid United Way of the Greater Capital
\nRegion President and CEO Brian T. Hassett.<\/p>\n
“The result will be more children prepared
\nto succeed in school, more families becoming
\nfinancially secure, more seniors living independently,
\nmore hungry people fed and countless
\nothers gaining opportunities for success.”<\/p>\n
United Way invests financial resources from
\nits Community Care Fund, which is made up
\nof unrestricted donor contributions, through
\ngrant processes designed to impact the areas
\nof basic needs, education, income and health.<\/p>\n
Funding commitments are made to health
\nand human service agencies working to improve
\ncommunity conditions for the low income
\nand vulnerable in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga,
\nSchenectady, and Schoharie counties.<\/p>\n
“The need is great and Saratoga County
\nnonprofits provide much-needed services
\nthroughout the community. We are proud to
\nsupport programs which enhance the quality of
\nlife for those struggling in the Capital Region”
\nsaid Dan Sauer, United Way of the Greater Capital
\nRegion board chairman. “The gap between
\nthe need and what United Way is able to fund
\nmotivates us to share our message that every
\ndonation counts and that it is going to take all
\nof us working together to make a difference.”<\/p>\n
Funded agencies work with United Way to
\nadvance the long-term health of the region.
