Stewart Jones Jr. of the E. Stewart Jones<br \/>\nLaw Firm and Jim Hacker of Hacker Murphy LLP<br \/>\nannounced recently the merger of the two firms to<br \/>\nbecome E. Stewart Jones Hacker Murphy. The firm has offices in Saratoga, Latham and<br \/>\nTroy.<\/p>\n<p>It concentrates on the areas of commercial<br \/>\nlitigation, property tax dispute, employment discrimination,<br \/>\neminent domain, criminal defense<br \/>\nand personal injury law.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As the legal industry landscape has evolved,<br \/>\nthe need to diversify our firm&#8217;s practice areas and<br \/>\nthe services we offer to clients heightened,&#8221; said<br \/>\nJones. &#8220;My grandfather opened this firm right here<br \/>\nin downtown Troy in 1898, and my father, brother<br \/>\nand I all practiced law here.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ensuring the firm has a place in the legal community<br \/>\nand continuing our commitment to Capital<br \/>\nRegion community as a whole is of the greatest<br \/>\nimportance to my family and I, and this merger will<br \/>\nensure we can do that for years to come. Our firm<br \/>\ndedication to our existing clients will continued<br \/>\nunabated, and will also be extended to those who<br \/>\nwe serve under this new structure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Each firm has a history of trying some of the most prominent cases in the region&#8217;s history. Jim<br \/>\nHacker and E. Stewart Jones joined to represent<br \/>\nthe families of 20 individuals who perished following<br \/>\nthe sinking of the Ethan Allen on Lake George<br \/>\nin 2005. This year, E. Stewart Jones successfully<br \/>\ndefended former state Senate Majority Leader Joseph<br \/>\nBruno, a trial that resulted in a full acquittal.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At Hacker Murphy, our commitment to our<br \/>\nclients is equaled only by our commitment to our<br \/>\ncommunity,&#8221; said Jim Hacker. &#8220;I have worked on<br \/>\nseveral cases with Stewart and I know that his<br \/>\npersonal and professional beliefs align perfectly<br \/>\nwith the culture at our firm.
