Environmental Design Partnership of
\nClifton Park and Glens Falls will be breaking
\nground early this year on Waite Road
\nin Clifton Park on a single-family home
\nproject, known as Lands of Kahn.<\/p>\n
The project is one if many on the area
\nin what appears to be a busy year for area
\nbuilding contractors and developers.
\nIt will feature eight to nine modest family
\nhomes, according to Gavin Vuillaume,
\nconsultant for the project.<\/p>\n
Vuillaume said they have not chosen a
\nbuilder at this time and therefore they cannot
\ncomment any further on a timetable.
\n“We have just received conceptual approval
\nfrom the town. Next we will look
\nfor a builder that will best fit the project,”
\nsaid Vuillaume.<\/p>\n
Environmental Design Partnership
\nspecializes in civil and environmental
\nengineering, landscape architecture and
\nland surveying. Recent projects include the
\nHalfmoon Public Library, Water Pumping
\nand Treatment Facility in Wilton, Wilton
\nWater and Sewer Authority, Van Patten Golf
\nCourse Club House and Banquet Facility,
\nBarberry Fields in Clifton Park, and Knollwood
\nHollow Condominiums of Milton.<\/p>\n
Mike Munter, vice president of Munter
\nEnterprises in Middle Grove, said his
\ncompany is busy despite the harsh winter
\nweather.<\/p>\n
His company is in the midst of building
\nthe new Druthers brewery and restaurant
\nat 1053 Broadway, Albany. Druthers currently
\noperates a restaurant and small
\ncraft brewery on Broadway in Saratoga
\nSprings. The business is going in a renovated
\nbuilding that will have large windows so
\npassers-by can observe brewing operations
\non the Broadway side of the building. The
\nentrance to the restaurant will be from the
\nBridge Street side of the building.<\/p>\n
The company is also finishing a six-unit
\ntownhouse project on Ballston Avenue
\n(Route 50), just south of the Price Chopper
\nshopping plaza.<\/p>\n
Munter’s company recently started
\nclearing land in the Grande Industrial
\npark inn Saratoga Springs in advance or
\nbuilding a 30,000-square-foot building
\nthat will be the new home of Greenfield
\nManufacturing Inc., a contract chemical
\nmanufacturing company. The company
\ncurrently leases space in the park.
\nThe space will allow for a more streamlined
\nproduction process.<\/p>\n
Munter Enterprises is also building
\na building for Donnelly Construction
\non Route 67 in Mechanicvillle. The
\n8,000-square-foot building will be a sspot
\nfor the company’s equipment and vehicle
\nmaintenance.<\/p>\n
Munter said one of the springs projects
\nwill be relocating the Hoffman’s Playland
\nrides and facilities from Route 9 in Newtonville,
\nwhere it operated for decades until
\nclosing last year, to land adjacent to Huck
\nFinn’s Warehouse on Erie Boulevard in the
\nnorth end of Albany. The furniture store is
\ngetting grants and load to do the project
\nand keep the playland alive.<\/p>\n
Munter said his company will be building
\nsome new concession building, relocating
\nother buildings, and relocating the rides,
\nincluding the well-known train at Hoffman’s.
\nCrews will put in concrete pads
\nfor the rides and walkways for customers,
\nand do site work including putting in the
\nnecessary utilities.<\/p>\n
Don McElroy of DCG Development
\nCo. said Homewood Suites, a four-story,
\n96-suite residential-style hotel in the
\nsouthwest parking area of the company’s
\nClifton Park Center, is still under construction.
\nBast Hatfield is the general contractor,
\nas it is on the Embassy Suites Hotel being
\nbuilt by DCG in Congress Plaza in Saratoga
\nSprings.<\/p>\n
The Clifton Park project is expected to
\nbe completed early this year, McElroy said.
\nWork is still being done inside the Embassy
\nSuites, but it should be open in February.
\nDCG is also adding a building to Clifton
\nPark Center. Work on that building will
\nbegin when the weather breaks, McElroy
\nsaid. It will add 2,800 square feet of retail
\nspace to the center.<\/p>\n
“We’re pretty busy,” he said, adding
\nthat construction of a new Panera Bread
\nbakery-cafe will also begin this spring at
\nMalta Commons near Northway Exit 12.
\nFrank Alessandrini, principal of construction
\ncompany F.H. Alexander Inc. in
\nBallston Lake, said he is still bidding on
\njobs for 2015. One of the projects his company
\nis involved in is the new Hudson River
\nCommunity Credit Union (HRCCU) branch
\nin Corinth. The 3,000-square-foot branch,
\nreplacing the current branch at 312 Palmer
