They<br \/>\npurchased the facility for $2.25 million from<br \/>\nthe Dennis and Arakelian families, long time<br \/>\nowners of the golf course, following the death<br \/>\nof CEO and co-owner Mike Dennis.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Martell, owner of Druthers Brewing<br \/>\nCo. of Saratoga Springs, will operate the<br \/>\nrestaurant. Renovations are underway for a<br \/>\nyear-round full-service facility. In addition,<br \/>\nthere will be a test kitchen for trying new<br \/>\nrecipes and beers.<\/p>\n<p>The clubhouse will have heat and air-conditioning<br \/>\nfor the first time, plus new windows<br \/>\nand other enhancements, the owners said. A<br \/>\nmembers-only section of the clubhouse will<br \/>\nhave the indoor golf simulator, available for<br \/>\npractice, lessons and trying out new equipment.<br \/>\nThe club already has tennis courts and<br \/>\na swimming pool as well as the 18-hole golf<br \/>\ncourse.<\/p>\n<p>Crocitto, who will be general manager of the<br \/>\nclub, estimated renovation costs at $250,000.<br \/>\nHe expects renovations to be completed by April 1. The actual opening day depends upon<br \/>\nthe weather.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Once the snow melts, we will know what has<br \/>\nto be done&#8221; to get the golf course into shape,<br \/>\nCrocitto said. Tentatively, &#8220;a big kick-off party&#8221;<br \/>\nis scheduled for the first week of April.<br \/>\nFor both Crocitto and Ahl, this is their first<br \/>\nexperience operating a golf club. Crocitto, however,<br \/>\nknows the McGregor Links well. He played<br \/>\nhis first ever round of golf there six years ago.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I fell in love with the game and McGregor<br \/>\nLinks that day,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I played 100 rounds<br \/>\nin the past year alone and 120 the year before<br \/>\nthat. Most non-club members may play 30<br \/>\ntimes a year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He also works for MyGolfSpy, a company that<br \/>\ntests and reviews golf equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Ahl will have primary responsibility for<br \/>\ngroundskeeping, maintenance and upkeep<br \/>\nof the facility. He and his wife, Barbara, own<br \/>\nOntario Scrap Metal in Albany, a disposal and<br \/>\nrecycling firm.<\/p>\n<p>McGregor Links, opened in 1921, has a<br \/>\nreputation as one of the hardest and nicest golf<br \/>\ncourses in the Northeast, according to Crocitto.<br \/>\nIt has a membership of 433.
