Two brothers are running Wired Coffee &
\nBagel in the Ellsworth Commons, in the apartment
\ncomplex off Route 9 in Malta.
\nBut its coffee products are drawing interest
\nbeyond Saratoga County.<\/p>\n

Matt and Marty Michele grew up in Voorheesville,
\nand were involved in business at
\nan early age, helping to run their family’s ice
\ncream parlor. A couple years ago, they decided
\nto start their own business. They saw that
\nMalta had a growing economy and believed it
\nwould be a great place to start a coffee shop.<\/p>\n

One of the most unique aspects of Wired
\nCoffee & Bagel is the fact that all of the coffee
\nis roasted onsite, the owners said. They said
\nthere are only two other coffee shops in the
\nCapital Region that roast their own coffee.<\/p>\n

Wired receives whole beans from all over
\nthe world, such as Colombia, Peru, and Kenya.
\n“We roast all our own coffee,” said Marty
\nMichele. “We just got this coffee from Yemen,
\nwhich is very hard to get.”<\/p>\n

All the coffees are Fair Trade and organic.
\nThe staff roasts the beans at the shop almost
\ndaily and in small batches. This ensures an
\nextremely fresh, premium taste that cannot
\nbe found at most coffee shops, according to
\nthe owners.<\/p>\n

The entrepreneurs are pushing to do business
\noutside its shop. One bar in Albany, the
\nLow Beat, sells their coffee, as well as Salar,
\na restaurant in Ohio. Wired is planning on
\ncontracting with other establishments to sell
\ntheir coffee in the near future.<\/p>\n

Besides coffee, Wired Coffee & Bagel offers
\ntea from Divinitea, a loose leaf tea supplier
\nfrom Schenectady. The bagels are supplied
\nfrom a bakery in Brooklyn, to create an authentic
\nNew York City bagel taste.<\/p>\n

The menu includes a variety of sandwiches,
\nsalads, and paninis. There are desserts like
\ncookies and pastries, including items made
\nby the owners’ sisters.<\/p>\n

The shop offers delivery, so customers
\ncan order coffee, bagels and more for their
\nbusiness or residence. Call-ahead curbside
\npickup is available for those who want to call
\nin their order and have it ready when they
\nget to the shop.<\/p>\n

Wired Coffee & Bagel also offers catering,
\ncookie platters, and more for corporate
\nevents.<\/p>\n

Wired Coffee & Bagel has a relatively large
\nspace inside the Ellsworth Commons. The
\ninterior is furnished in espresso-colored hues.
\nThere is a fireplace, leather furniture and
\nplenty of seating. Artwork on the walls comes
\nfrom local artists. There is wireless Internet.
\nThe proximity of other shops in the Commons
\ndraws traffic into the coffee shop.<\/p>\n

“The thing I enjoy most is the customers,”
\nsaid Matt Michele. “It’s fun here.”<\/p>\n

The shop is located at 1104 Ellsworth Boulevard.
\nHours are 5:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday
\nand Tuesday; 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday
\nthrough Thursday; Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 3
\np.m.; and Sundays, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.<\/p>\n
