Megan Hennessey of the Courtyard by
\nMarriott Saratoga Springs was elected
\nchairwoman of the Executive Committee of
\nthe Saratoga Convention & Tourism Bureau
\nat its 30th annual meeting on March 19 at
\nthe Hall of Springs, Gideon Putnam Resort
\n& Spa.<\/p>\n

About 125 people attended, including
\nmembers, government officials and past
\nchairmen.<\/p>\n

Elected to serve on the committee for
\n2015-16 with Hennessey were Dan Fortier
\nof Embassy Suites Saratoga Springs, immediate
\npast chairman; Thomas Newkirk of
\nSaratoga National Golf Course, chairmanelect;
\nShawn Goodway of the Saratoga
\nHilton, treasurer; and Steve Wilcox of Fingerpaint
\nMarketing, at-large officer.<\/p>\n

Elected to serve three-year terms on the
\nboard of directors were Christine Harmon of
\nWest Side Sports Bar & Grill, A.J. Bodden of
\nTownsquare Lifestyle Events, and Rita Cox
\nof Saratoga Casino and Raceway.<\/p>\n

Continuing to serve on the board are
\nMark Baker of Saratoga Springs City Center,
\nRobert Berrey of Gideon Putnam Resort,
\nDennis Brobston of the Saratoga Economic
\nDevelopment Corp., Gail Cummings-Danson
\nof Skidmore College, Cynthia Hollowood of
\nHoliday Inn Saratoga Springs.<\/p>\n

Ron Ireland of Saratoga Golf & Polo Club,
\nPatrick Pipino of Ben & Jerry’s of Saratoga,
\nEugene Quirk of Adirondack Trust Insurance,
\nTodd Shimkus of the Saratoga County
\nChamber of Commerce and Marcia White of
\nSaratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC).<\/p>\n

Also, to commemorate the 30th anniversary,
\nthe bureau and Simpson Square Media
\nGroup worked on a redesigned website for
\nwww.discoversaratoga.org. The bureau site
\nis an online destination guide for visitors
\nand group event planners with a principal
\nmeans of attracting conventions, meetings,
\nand many other groups to the Saratoga area.<\/p>\n

“The Saratoga Convention & Tourism
\nBureau is an unheralded, but vital, driver of
\nthe Saratoga County and Saratoga Springs
\neconomies, and its website has long been
\nan important marketing tool,” said Michael
\nConlin, president, Simpson Square Media
\nGroup. “Our goal with the update was to
\nimprove its usefulness as a tool by making it
\nmobile compatible, easier to navigate and a
\nmore direct guide to our region’s businesses,
\nevents and attractions.”<\/p>\n

The bureau also worked with Fingerpaint
\nMarketing to come up with a new logo. Garofano
\nsaid working with the Fingerpaint team
\n“was a rewarding process in itself. It helped
\nus recognize and understand the important
\neconomic and social impact the Bureau has
\non our local community.”<\/p>\n
