Carson’s Woodside Tavern is a new restaurant
\non Saratoga Lake, located in the building that
\nonce housed a longtime staple of the area, Cliff’s
\nCountry Inn.<\/p>\n

It opened in March at 57 Route 9P in Malta.
\nThe previous owners, Cliff and Kathy Barlow,
\nretired after 37 years of running the restaurant.<\/p>\n

New owner Bill Carson has several years of
\nexperience in the restaurant industry, his most
\nrecent venture being owner of Ravenswood Restaurant
\nin Clifton Park for 29 years.<\/p>\n

Carson’s Woodside Tavern is a family owned
\nand operated business. Carson’s wife, Susan,
\nis helping with management, while daughter
\nStephanie helps run the bar.<\/p>\n

Carson’s Woodside Tavern has a classic
\nAmerican pub menu. The restaurant offers soups,
\nsalads, wraps and sandwiches, burgers, and a
\nvariety of entrees.<\/p>\n

The restaurant will be continuing to offer the
\nprime rib, which was a favorite at Cliff’s Country
\nInn. The prime rib is offered from 5 p.m. nightly
\nuntil it is sold out. The restaurant also features
\nnightly specials.
\nCarson’s is open for lunch and dinner on a daily
\nbasis. Executive chef Mike Cunningham oversees
\nthe kitchen.<\/p>\n

Carson said the restaurant underwent six
\nweeks of extensive renovation. In the dining
\narea, improvements include fresh paint, new
\ndining tables and booths, carpeting, lighting and
\ntelevision screens. In the bar area, renovations
\ninclude a new bar and barstools, televisions and
\na stereo system.<\/p>\n

He said renovations will continue on the
\nexterior of the restaurant. Carson and his team
\nare planning to knock down an outside building
\non the property and bring down trees in order to
\nexpose the view of Saratoga Lake.<\/p>\n

Carson takes his love of the hospitality industry
\nseriously and believes it is the most important
\npart of running a restaurant.
\n“When people come here they can expect great
\nhospitality,” said Carson. “Getting to know people
\npersonally is my favorite part. We want to know
\npeople’s names when they come here.”<\/p>\n

To help with that, Carson’s is establishing a loyalty
\nprogram at the restaurant. Every time people
\neat at Carson’s Woodside Tavern, they can earn
\npoints that will go toward a future meal purchase.<\/p>\n

The restaurant will have live entertainment
\nfrom local bands on Friday and Saturday nights.
\nAn official grand opening is tentatively scheduled
\nfor May or June, once exterior renovations
\nare completed.<\/p>\n

Carson’s Woodside Tavern is open from 11 a.m.
\nto midnight Monday through Saturday, and noon
\nto 11 p.m. on Sundays. For more information, visit
