Saratoga County residents will be able to get
\nan MBA degree by taking courses close to home
\nbeginning this fall.
\nThe Sage Colleges will begin an MBA program
\nat the Hudson Valley Tech Smart facility in Malta
\nwith two evening courses in the fall 2015 semester.<\/p>\n

Kimberly Fredericks, who heads the program
\nand will teach one of the courses, calls it “MBA
\ncondensed” because students will be able to take
\nboth courses in one evening.<\/p>\n

The Saratoga County program is designed for
\nworking adults, according to Fredericks.
\nThe program will meet a perceived need, she
\nsaid.<\/p>\n

“Why not put the education where people
\nare working or living?” Except for Empire State College, there is no
\nother MBA program in Saratoga County, according
\nto Fredericks.<\/p>\n

The fall offerings will be Management of
\nChange and Innovation, taught by Fredericks,
\nand Human Resource Management, taught by
\nMary Ellen Tedesco. Both are required foundation
\ncourses in the program. The two professors are regular Sage faculty members who teach in
\nthe MBA program at the Sage Colleges campus
\nin Albany.<\/p>\n

The full program will require 42 credits or 14
\ncourses for completion. Students will be able to
\ntake courses in either Albany or Malta.
\nShe said that the school expects about 20
\nstudents to start in the fall. They can accommodate
\n35-40, however, and will go ahead even
\nwith fewer than 20.<\/p>\n

Tuition will vary somewhat depending upon
\nwhere students are employed. The regular rate is
\n$580 per credit hour but there are discounts for
\npeople working for nonprofit or health-oriented
\norganizations.<\/p>\n

Once the program is established, additional
\ncourses will be offered and the program will
\nexpand to other nights, Fredericks said. Other
\ngraduate or undergraduate programs may be
\nadded later.<\/p>\n

“We are looking to become part of the community,”
\nshe said.<\/p>\n
