Saratoga Bridges received a grant of $20,000
\nfrom the Wright Family Foundation that is says
\nwill make a significant impact locally on the lives
\nof people with disabilities.<\/p>\n
Officials said it will be used specifically for their
\ncommunity-based home located in Clifton Park.
\nIn particular, these funds will fund new front
\nand rear ramps, a deck system and a vinyl lattice
\nroof cover. Due to the inclement weather conditions,
\nthese 20-plus year old structures needed to
\nbe replaced.<\/p>\n
Officials said the roof covering will avert the
\nbuildup of snow, reduce slippage in rainy, icy
\nweather and avoid environmental debris. The
\nbenefit for the individuals who use wheelchairs or have ambulatory issues will be able to remain safe
\nwhile eliminating the possibility of falling.<\/p>\n
The renovation will also will prevent injuries to
\ntheir staff members, officials said.<\/p>\n
In 2004, a $50,000 grant was used toward
\nthe renovation of the agency’s Corinth Pallet
\nand Production Facility where their individuals
\nconstruct custom-sized hardwood pallets. Those
\nimprovements consisted of a new loading dock,
\nkilns, covered wood storage area and building
\nHVAC upgrades.<\/p>\n
The agency said that as a result, people are
\nintegrated in this pre-vocational program and are
\nlearning employment skills they hope to transition
