The Saratoga Women in Business (SWIB)
\ngroup will hold its inaugural meeting 5-7
\np.m. Wednesday, May 20, at the Saratoga
\nCoWorks, 153 Regent St., Saratoga Springs.<\/p>\n
The SWIB group targets female business
\nleaders in the greater Saratoga Springs
\narea and offers free bi-monthly fellowship
\nopportunities. Wine and light snacks, sponsored
\nby area businesses, will be provided
\nat each gathering, and door prizes will also
\nbe awarded.<\/p>\n
“The main goal of the SWIB group is to
\ngive Saratoga’s women business leaders an
\nopportunity to get to know one another in
\na relaxed setting,” said Heidi Ives, one of
\nthe group’s founders and sales manager at
\nHomeBridge Financial Services Inc.<\/p>\n
“We believe that if women make friends
\nfirst, the business will follow,” said Dorothy
\nRogers-Bullis, another SWIB founding member
\nand owner of drb Business Interiors.<\/p>\n
“We are so excited to get these successful
\nwomen together on a regular basis to not
\nonly make professional connections, but
\nalso to make new friends,” noted Margaret Perkins Noel, SWIB co-founder and assistant
\ndirector of annual giving at Skidmore
\nCollege.<\/p>\n
They said every SWIB meeting will include
\na five-minute presentation by a local
\nwoman-run nonprofit organization.<\/p>\n
The May non-profit spotlight will be on
\nKupona Foundation. Based in Saratoga
\nSprings, Kupona Foundation is improving
\naccess to quality healthcare for thousands
\nof women and newborns in Tanzania, giving
\nthem the opportunity to build a brighter

“I love that the SWIB organization has a
\ncharitable component,” said another of the
\ngroup’s founders, Rachel Spensieri, a freelance
\nwriter and editor in Saratoga Springs.

\nnon-profits to share their mission with an
\nenthusiastic audience.”<\/p>\n
