Recycling is an important part of creating a
\nsustainable environment. At Metro Metal Recycling,
\nthe Van Hall family that operates the
\nnew facility allows people to bring in ordinary
\nhousehold items and receive cash in return.
\nMany Americans do not realize they can
\nreceive money simply by recycling items that
\nare found in their home, they said.<\/p>\n

The Van Hall family has more than 40 years
\nof experience in the recycling and scrap metal
\nindustries.
\nCharlie Van Hall grew up in Rock City Falls
\nand has worked for several scrap metal companies
\nin the area. He started Metro Metal
\nRecycling in 2001, opening up a first location
\nin Watervliet. The company recently added
\ntwo locations, one in Albany and one in Middle
\nGrove at 222 Sodeman Road.<\/p>\n

Charlie’s son Ryen Van Hall is now vice president
\nof the company. The Van Halls believe
\nthe fact they are family owned-and-operated
\nis an advantage. “You have the same people
\nto deal with everyday,” said Ryen. “There’s no
\nfancy corporate structure.”<\/p>\n

Metro Metal Recycling accepts any kind
\nof recycling – steel, aluminum, bronze and
\ncopper. They are able to recycle kitchen appliances,
\nbatteries, lawn furniture, and more.<\/p>\n

Once the scrap metal is weighed, customers
\nare offered payment. Metro Metal Recycling
\npays fully in cash. Customers must bring their
\nown scrap metal to the yard. Metro Metal
\nRecycling does not offer pickup.<\/p>\n

Metro Metal Recycling also has a “pick and
\npull” automobile yard. In the yard are several
\nhundred vehicles that can be used for parts.
\nCustomers can bring their own tools and find
\nspare parts for their vehicle from the scrap
\nyard. There are a variety of vehicles available,
\nincluding Fords, Toyotas, Subarus, Volvos and
\nmore.<\/p>\n

The company also has an auto parts store
\non site. They sell mirrors, tail lights, engines,
\ntires and other products.<\/p>\n

The yard is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
\nMonday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon
\non Saturday. No appointment is necessary to
