Henry Street business owners of Saratoga
\nSprings are ramping up for the city’s first ever
\nBike Party event on June 21.<\/p>\n
The event is set for noon to 4 p.m. and will
\nfeature an adult big wheel race, a kids bicycle
\nparade, bike decoration contest and exhibit,
\nbicycle stunts and tricks, live surf rock music,
\nfood, beverages, vending and more.<\/p>\n
This year the event is on Father’s Day and
\nseeks to attract fathers, families and bike
\nenthusiasts alike, organizers said. A street closure
\nwill take place on Henry Street between
\nLake Avenue and Caroline Street to accommodate
\nthe event. Officials said they anticipate as
\nmany as 5,000 people in attendance.<\/p>\n
As part of the event, an adult big wheel race
\nwill take place in a series of heats on parts of
\nHenry Street as well as on Short Alley near the Children’s Museum.

\nbig wheel race is now open and those interested
\nin participating may register online at

First place winner of the big wheel race
\nwill take home a race trophy, a $750 adult big
\nwheel, and gift certificates to Henry Street
\nbusinesses. Prizes for second and third place
\nas well as best race costume will be issued to
\nracers post race.<\/p>\n
A guided kids bike parade will be led by
\nevent volunteers along Henry Street to Congress
\nPark and back. Kids are encouraged to
\nbring their bikes and wear super hero-themed
\noutfits or costumes. This is in anticipation of
\nthe Saratoga Springs Public Library Summer Reading Program’s super hero theme. The
\nlibrary will have kids activities and crafts
\nduring the event.<\/p>\n

The Bike Party is hosted and organized by
\nthe Henry Street Business Group, a collective
\nof Henry Street business owners, whose
\nmission is to revitalize Saratoga Spring’s gut
\ndistrict and make Saratoga a healthier and
\nmore exciting place to live, organization officials said. Part of the proceeds will go to
\nbenefit Bikeatogo a nonprofit, volunteer-driven
\norganization based in Saratoga Springs, and
\ntoward revitalization efforts to make Henry
\nStreet a more bike friendly place.<\/p>\n
The group also organizes Henry Street Harvest
\nFestival, which will be held in the fall. For
