The Center for Economic Growth (CEG) will
\nhold its 2015 annual member meeting on Oct. 21
\nat the Experimental Media and Performing Arts
\nCenter (EMPAC) in Troy.<\/p>\n
Event registration begins at 5 p.m. Howard
\nZemsky, president and CEO of Empire State Development
\n(ESD) will deliver keynote remarks. A
\nreception will follow the business portion of the
\nmeeting from 6:30-8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
Zemsky works closely with Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul
\nand the respective regional co-chairpersons to
\nimplement the Regional Economic Development
\nCouncils, the state’s decentralized, collaborative
\nand strategic approach to economic development.<\/p>\n
Zemsky has co-chaired the Western New York
\nRegional Economic Development Council during
\nthe past four years and has worked closely on
\nthe state Buffalo Billion revitalization initiative.<\/p>\n
His company, Larkin Development Group, has
\nredeveloped approximately 1 million square feet
\nof historic building space in Buffalo since 2002,
\nwith a particular focus on reclaiming Buffalo’s
\nearliest industrial neighborhood, the Larkin Historic
\nDistrict.<\/p>\n

\neconomic development strategy. Getting
\ninsights from Mr. Zemsky on the governors’ and
\nhis vision for economic development in New
\nYork state provides a compelling platform for
\nour evening,” said Michael Hickey, CEG’s interim
\npresident and CEO.<\/p>\n
More than 300 business, government, academic
\nand community leaders are expected to attend the
\nevent. Organizers said it is one of the region’s top
\nexecutive networking events of the year and an
\nopportunity to celebrate regional successes with
\nfellow CEG members.<\/p>\n
The member meeting will include official CEG
\nbusiness, as well as an update on the Upstate Revitalization
\nInitiative Capital Region strategy, and
\nthe direction the organization is headed in 2016
\nfrom Hickey. Additionally, as part of the meeting,
\nthe organization will conduct elections for the
\n2016 board of directors.<\/p>\n
“The annual meeting is a time to share CEG’s accomplishments
\nfor the year, with a look into 2016
\nand its increased opportunities as the regional
\neconomic development organization to bring
\ntransformational economic change to the Capital
\nRegion” said Dr. Laura Schweitzer, vice president
\nfor health sciences and biomedical initiatives at
\nSUNY Albany, and chairwoman of CEG.<\/p>\n
