The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society has
\nopened a new facility, located at 4255 Route 50, in
\nthe town of Wilton.<\/p>\n

The expansion will serve Saratoga, Washington,
\nWarren and other counties with low-cost spay\/neuter
\nand microchipping programs, and cat adoption
\nand fostering.<\/p>\n

“We were approached about an opportunity
\nto expand the area we serve and open a facility
\nin Saratoga Springs last spring,” said Brad Shear,
\nexecutive director of the Mohawk Hudson Humane
\nSociety. “Through the due diligence of our staff and
\nboard of directors, it was obvious that this was an
\nimportant next step for our organization. This site,
\nthe former H.O.P.E. facility, will provide important
\nservices to Saratoga, Washington, Warren and
\nMontgomery counties.”<\/p>\n

The facility is managed by Jeanette Sparks and is
\nunder the medical direction of Julie Whipple, DVM.
\nA grand opening was held in September.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1887, the Mohawk Hudson Humane
\nSociety is an animal protection agency and serves
\nas the SPCA for Albany and Rensselaer counties, investigating
\nand prosecuting cases of animal cruelty.<\/p>\n

The society receives no local, state or federal government
\nfunding, nor does it receive funding from
\nany national groups such as ASPCA or Humane
\nSociety of the United States.<\/p>\n

The Society’s main facility, located at 3 Oakland
\nAve. in Menands, is open for adoptions seven days
\na week. In addition, cats and dogs are available for
\nadoption at the Society’s Everyday Adoption Center
\nthe PetSmart store in Latham.<\/p>\n
