Mary Beth Besler began dancing at the age
\nof four. From the moment her toes touched a
\ndance floor until now, she has worked to turn
\nher passion into a career.<\/p>\n

As the owner of the Dance Lab in Saratoga
\nSprings, Besler is in her element, being able to
\nteach and share what she loves.<\/p>\n

The Dance Lab, located at 68 West Ave., is
\na place that Besler says is unique from other
\ndance studios in and around the Spa City. Besler
\nsaid they not only offer classes for children, but
\nadults too.<\/p>\n

“The theme of the studio is for everyone to
\nhave fun and feel good about themselves. There
\nis a quote by an anonymous author that says
\n‘You do not stop dancing because you grow
\nold, you grow old because you stop dancing.’ I
\nwant kids to learn about the positive benefits
\nof dance, how great it can make you feel, and
\nhow it can be an outlet during frustrating
\ntimes,” she said.<\/p>\n

“I want adults to be able to find a place where
\nthey can check the stresses of life at the door to
\neither learn what a feel-great exercise dance can
\nbe or experience a blast from their past if they
\nused to dance as a child,” said Besler.<\/p>\n

Besler brings years of valuable experience. It
\nincludes master classes under renowned dancers
\nand choreographers such as Gus Giordano
\nand Frank Hatchett. She has won numerous
\nawards at national dance competitions and has
\neven performed as a backup dancer in a Jessica
\nSimpson concert.<\/p>\n

Besler attended Siena College where she was
\na member of the Siena College dance team for
\nfour years and served as captain of the team for
\nher junior and senior years. Her resume
\nincludes ballet study at Skidmore College, the
\nUltimate Dance Team in Albany, and working
\nas an instructor for the past 13 years.<\/p>\n

Besler said she chose the Saratoga location
\nfor her own studio for many reasons, one being
\nthat her husband, Steve, is a teacher at Saratoga
\nHigh School. She said she and her husband both
\nfell in love with the area.<\/p>\n

“We knew we wanted to start our lives together
\nin this incredible city. Ever since I took
\nmy very first dance class, I have dreamed of one
\nday starting my own studio. So, combining my
\nlove for both dance and Saratoga seemed like
\na great idea,” said Besler.<\/p>\n

Besler said she feels having a studio gives her
\nthe opportunity to get to know each student and
\nwork toward their goals and dreams.<\/p>\n

“Should the business grow, I would certainly
\nbe open to expanding the studio but keeping it
\nin Saratoga,” said Besler.<\/p>\n

Besler also works as a CPA at a financial
\ncounseling firm, which helps her with the financial
\nside of owning her own business.<\/p>\n

“I’ve had a lot of experience in dance
\nthroughout my life, so I thought knowing the
\nbusiness side would be helpful for running a
\nstudio. It is nice because the two are so opposite
\nthat I believe it helps keep me well rounded.
\nEven while working as CPA, I have taught
\ndance throughout the Capital Region at various
\nstudios. Each experience validated my desire
\nto make my lifelong dream of opening a dance
\nstudio become a reality,” said Besler.<\/p>\n
