Saratoga Casino and Raceway announced
\ndonations totaling $100,000 to local charities
\nat its 11th annual Make a Difference event on
\nOct. 26 at its Vapor lounge.<\/p>\n

Nearly 150 guests were in attendance for
\nthe luncheon as 16 local charitable organizations
\nwere presented with monetary donations.
\nThe donations brought the casino’s
\nsupport of Capital Region charities to more
\nthan $240,000 in 2015.<\/p>\n

Since its official inception in 2005, the annual
\nMake a Difference event has presented
\nover $1.1 million to local organizations,
\ncasino officials said. Over $2.5 million in
\nmonetary, sponsorship and in-kind donations
\nhave been made by Saratoga Casino and
\nRaceway since opening in 2004.<\/p>\n

“Giving back has been a foundation of
\nour business from the very beginning,” said
\nRita Cox, senior vice president of marketing
\nat Saratoga Casino and Raceway. “This was a
\nwonderful opportunity for us to recognize the
\ninspiring work that all 16 of these groups do
\nin the Capital Region. They make a difference
\nevery day in the lives of so many within our
\ncommunity.”<\/p>\n

The event was hosted by Benita Zahn of
\nWNYT. Checks were presented by Tom Wiedmayer,
\ngeneral manager; Cox and Skip Carlson,
\nsenior vice president of external affairs.<\/p>\n

The recipients for the 2015 Make a Difference
\nevent were:
\n$10,000:<\/strong> Boys and Girls Club of Albany, Homeless Action Committee.<\/p>\n

$7,500:<\/strong> Capital Roots, Franklin Community Center Inc., Jake’s Help From Heaven, Make
\nA Wish – Northeast New York, Regional Food Bank\/Patroon Land Farm, Ronald McDonald House and To Life!\n<\/div>\n
$5,000:<\/strong> Agricultural Stewardship Association, AIM Services Inc., Nathan Littauer Foundation Inc., The Wesley Foundation, and Unity House of Troy\n<\/div>\n
$1,250:<\/strong> Building on Love and Kelly’s Angels.<\/p>\n

“We are honored to be included in the
\nMake A Difference event again this year,”
\nsaid Kari Cushing, executive director at
\nFranklin Community Center. “The philanthropic
\nspirit at Saratoga Casino and
\nRaceway really starts at the top and trickles
\ndown throughout the entire company. From
\nthe drivers donating their fees and employees
\nadopting families at the holidays, to the
\nmonetary donations and countless hours
\nthey volunteer at our programs, serving on
\nour board, committees and events. The ways
