Commercial user fees for entering the
\nUnited States changed Dec. 28, with fees for
\ncommercial trucks arriving without a transponder
\nincreasing from $10.75 to $13.05
\nper crossing, the U.S. Customs and Border
\nProtection announced.<\/p>\n
“Commercial trucks prepared with an
\nACE manifest and user fee transponder are
\ngenerally processed 50 percent faster than
\nnon-prepared commercial crossers,” said Ann
\nMarie Paul, assistant director at the Customs
\nand Border Protection Buffalo field office.
\n“For carriers arriving at the border without a
\ntransponder, they should be prepared to pay
\nthe $13.05 fee with exact change or a credit
\ncard to minimize delays.”<\/p>\n
She said commercial truck drivers and
\ncompanies are strongly encouraged to purchase
\na commercial truck transponder which
\nwill assist with a more expedited crossing at
\nthe border. Trucks with transponders do not
\nhave to undergo a commercial fee transaction
\nwhen crossing into the United States, potentially
\nsaving precious commodity movement
\ntime. Commercial transponders are available
\nfor an annual fee of $401.67.<\/p>\n
