Seniors will one day have another option for
\ncommunity living, thanks to a project underway
\nthrough the Wesley Community.<\/p>\n
Wesley Community CEO Brian Nealon said
\nthe new project will offer high-end luxury
\napartments, along with some more affordable
\noptions, located in Malta, west of Northway Exit
\n12 and off Route 67.<\/p>\n
Wesley is partnering with Saratoga Hospital
\non the project, which will be located on property
\nbehind the hospital’s Malta Med Emergent Care
\nbuilding, 6 Medical Park Drive.<\/p>\n
Nealon said the area is owned by Saratoga
\nHospital, who Wesley has partnered with before.
\nHe said they are excited to once again join forces
\nand offer living options to the senior population.<\/p>\n
\nWesley Community will build two multi-level
\nsenior apartment buildings and a residential
\ncare facility on 12 acres in the northern section
\nof the hospital's 139 acre parcel.<\/p>\n
"We have a really strong relationship with
\nSaratoga Hospital. It makes sense for us," said
\nNealon.<\/p>\n
Wesley plans break ground this spring on the
\nluxury apartment section, with completion by
\nthe end of 2016.<\/p>\n
Wesley said the four-story, luxury-style
\nbuilding will be open to seniors 62 and older.
\nThe units will range in size from 700 square
\nfeet to 1,300 square feet each, with one- and
\ntwo-bedroom options. The building will offer
\ngranite countertops, high-end appliances, covered
\nparking, transportation options, an on-site
\nrestaurant option, laundry facilities, a sauna, spa
\nand workout area.<\/p>\n
The more affordable living apartments are
\nawaiting government funding, which could delay
\nthat project start until late 2017, Nealon said.<\/p>\n
Both of the apartment complexes will offer
\na variety of services, including social programs
\nand activities, off-campus outings, and
\ntransportation to medical appointments and
\ngrocery stores.<\/p>\n
The estimated cost for the three buildings is
\n$42 million, Nealon said.<\/p>\n
The Wesley Community already offers senior
\nhousing, as well as a variety of senior health
\ncare programs, on its campus in the north end
