Two new mixed-used retail and office
\nbuildings are being planned on Route 9 in
\nMalta. The parcels are behind the CAP COM
\nFederal Credit Union building.<\/p>\n
The buildings are being designed by Lansing
\nEngineering.<\/p>\n
“There was a need for additional retail in
\nMalta,” said Yates Scott Lansing, owner of
\nLansing Engineering. “People needed more
\noffice space.”<\/p>\n
Currently the project is in the conceptualization
\nphase.<\/p>\n
“We hope to get through the process fairly
\nquickly. The Town of Malta has always been
\npretty good about moving things forward.
\nWe hope to break ground by the end of summer”
\nhe said.”It’s still early in the project.”<\/p>\n
\nAccording to the company, the first building
\noffers a mixed-used space for offices and
\nretail business. The building will be 12,000
\nsquare feet in total.<\/p>\n
There will be an additional building,
\nlocated behind the first one. The ground
\nfloor will feature 25,000 square feet of retail
\nspace. The second floor will feature 10,000
\nsquare feet. The company said there will be
\nroom for six to 10 new retail establishments
\nonce completed, as well as room for several
\noffices.<\/p>\n
The retail and office buildings will have
\nshared access with the CAP COM Federal
\nCredit Union. Parking will be located behind
\nthe credit union.<\/p>\n
Lansing Engineering was involved in
\nother projects, including the Bluth Building
\nin Malta.<\/p>\n
The Bluth Buillding is on 1.81 acres at
\n2452 Route 9, Malta. It is a three story commercial
\nand retail building structure that
\nis approximately 34,000 gross square feet
\nin size. Professional offices encompass the
\nsecond and third floor, with the first floor
\naccommodations available for retail business
