Five therapists from the Wesley Community’s
\noutpatient therapy program have completed training
\nand received certification in both LSVT Big
\nand LSVT Loud methodologies through funding
\nfrom an anonymous donor.<\/p>\n
The certification allows the outpatient therapy
\nprogram to provide new services to those diagnosed
\nwith Parkinson’s disease.<\/p>\n
“We are grateful to our anonymous donor for
\nfunding the training needed to achieve these certifications
\nand allowing the Wesley Community to
\nbetter serve those who need specialized therapy
\nas a result of having Parkinson’s disease,” said J.
\nBrian Nealon, CEO of the Wesley Community.<\/p>\n
LSVT certification programs, run by LSVT
\nGlobal in Tucson, Ariz., are designed to train
\nrehabilitation therapists in an evidence-based
\ntreatment approach for individuals with Parkinson’s
\ndisease.<\/p>\n
\nThe LSVT Big program helps Parkinson’s patients
\navoid inactivity, move more easily, improve
\nbalance, and increase torso rotation through
\na series of specialized movements, while the
\nLSVT Loud program focuses on improvements
\nin speech clarity and volume, increased facial
\nexpression, and improved vocalization, Wesley
\nhealth officials said.<\/p>\n
Both programs are available to current and
\nprospective patients in addition to the wide
\nrange of services offered at the outpatient therapy
\nprogram, including physical therapy, occupational
\ntherapy, speech therapy, aquatic therapy,
\northopedics, pediatric therapy services and CORE
\nevaluations.<\/p>\n
