Windsor Development in Clifton Park is planning a large development that will consist of a walkable town center clustered along Route 67 east of Northway Exit 12 in Malta.<\/p>\n
Bob Miller Sr., the company’s CEO, has filed plans with the town for a hotel, 11 apartment buildings and at least four retail complexes, to be built on 46 acres the developer owns.<\/p>\n
Windsor has owned the land for 10 years and plans to develop it gradually, Miller said.<\/p>\n
His plans call for 300 apartments in 11 buildings. The apartments will only be built "as required," he said. "We will wait to fill one up before building the next one."<\/p>\n
A planned extension of Kelch Drive, which crosses Route 67, will improve traffic flow to a Price Chopper shopping center, allowing drivers to avoid the roundabout at Routes 9 and 67 and making the shops accessible on foot to residents of the planned apartments, said Miller.<\/p>\n
"You will be able to wake up in the morning and walk over and get a cup of coffee," he said.<\/p>\n
He envisions small shops along Route 67. There is already a Panera Bread restaurant and a hotel nearby. Another hotel chain is interested in part of the Windsor land, he said, and he foresees office construction as well as additional retail development.<\/p>\n
In time, Miller said he expects there will be a "vibrant town center." Eventually, he may build town homes alongside the Northway. He predicts that the Windsor development will stabilize the area.<\/p>\n
He said that it is "hard to say" when construction may begin. "It could be this year. We are still talking to the town," he noted. Engineering plans are on file with the town.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
