The Independent Advisory Committee of
\nthe Adirondack Trust Co. Community Fund
\nhas awarded Lend-A-Hand Grants to 23 local
\nnonprofit organizations.<\/p>\n
The grants were presented at the fund’s annual
\ngrant award reception in December. Directors or
\nrepresentatives of the organizations were present
\nat the reception and spoke briefly about their
\nrespective organization’s mission and how the
\ngrant will support their particular cause.<\/p>\n
Grant awards were provided to:<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Backstretch Employee Service Team of NY
\nInc. received funding to expand its vaccination
\nprogram in collaboration with Saratoga Hospital
\nin order to reach a large population of clients as
\nthey visit their on-site clinic for their primary
\nhealth care needs.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Ballston Spa Partnership for Innovation in
\nEducation received funding for the 2016 Girls'
\nSummit, a full-day, STEM-based forum designed
\nto empower, inspire and inform girls to lead
\nhealthy lives and better prepare for their future.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Caffe Lena received funding for their
\nStudent Rush Ticket Program. The program
\nprovides students with discounted tickets to
\nvarious music, theater, poetry, and other art
\nperformances.<\/p>\n
\u2022 CAPTAIN Youth and Family Services
\nreceived funds to assist in purchasing a new
\nfurnace for their Runaway and Homeless Youth
\nEmergency Shelter.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Double H. Ranch received funds for its
\nwinter sports program which provides authentic
\nwinter recreation for children ages 6-16 with
\nlife-threatening and chronic illnesses.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Franklin Community Center received funding
\nfor its Project Lift program, an after-school
\nprevention program.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Lake George Music Festival, Inc. received
\nfunding for its sixth year anniversary season.
\nYoung musicians gain valuable musical, educational
\nexperiences, including the opportunity to
\nperform at a various venues with large audiences.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Parsons Child and Family Center received
\nfunding to children from Saratoga County to attend
\nCamp To Belong, an international nonprofit
\norganization that reunites brother and sisters
\nplaced in separate foster care, adoptive or kinship
\nhomes through summer camp programs.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Racing City Chorus received funding for its
\ninteractive presentations of the chorus of educational
\nworkshop programs at local high schools.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Rebuilding Together Saratoga County
\nreceived funding for its Safe Homes Initiative
\nthat supports 20 families in need in Saratoga
\nCounty to live in safer and healthier homes.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Saratoga Automobile Museum received
\nfunding for SAM's Garage, a section of the
\nmuseum devoted to school-aged children and
\ntheir families.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Saratoga Bridges received funding for a
\nPrinting for Purpose program to hire a professional
\nartist to teach printing classes to people
\nwith disabilities and people in the community.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Saratoga Center for the Family received
\nfunding for Heel-to-Heel, a 10-week program
\nfor high school aged girls to increase self-esteem,
\nconfidence, mindfulness, coping skills and physical
\nactivity.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Saratoga County Rural Preservation Co.
\nreceived funding for an initiative to renovate the
\nlate 18th century farm house used for veterans
\nin need.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Saratoga Film Forum received funding
\nfor the re-design\/re-launch of "In The Public
\nInterest," a documentary series of 10 films with
\nmoderated discussions after the show.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Saratoga Independent School received funding
\nto purchase two PowerGistics wall-mounted
\ncharging towers that will accommodate up to 36
\ndevices to help with safe storage solutions for the
\ncomputers recently purchased for the school.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Saratoga Sponsor a Scholar received funding
\nfor the purchase of graphing calculators for the
\nincoming class of program participants made
\nup of academically motivated, but economically
\ndisadvantaged sophomores in the Saratoga City
\nSchool District.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Senior Citizens Center of Saratoga got funding
\nfor their bus trip program.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The Ben Osborn Memorial Fund Inc, received
\nfunding for children in need, grades K-6,
\nin the form of gender and size appropriate
\nclothing assistance during the school day.<\/p>\n
\u2022 The Wesley Foundation received funding
\nfor the Wesley Evergreen Adult Day Services
\nprogram to purchase four iPads to be used to
\naccess and provide technology-based applications
\nand exercises.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Wellspring received funds for the maintenance
\nand daily upkeep of its emergency
\ndomestic violence shelter.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York
\nreceived funding for environmental education
\nprograms in schools, libraries, nature centers,
\nstate parks, scout groups and youth camps.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park received
\nfunding for its Accessible Environmental Education
\nprogram which supports mentors working
\nwith community youth.<\/p>\n
Committee chairwoman Mary Gavin said,
