This community-<br \/>\nbased strategy also streamlines the<br \/>\nprocess to make purchasing solar easier<br \/>\nthan ever.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Solarize model has been very successful<br \/>\nnationwide in lowering the barriers<br \/>\nto the adoption of solar power,&#8221; said<br \/>\ncampaign co-chairwoman Rayna Caldwell.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By pre-qualifying installers and negotiating<br \/>\nlower group prices, we boost the confidence<br \/>\nthat home and business owners have both<br \/>\nin quality and price.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tina Carton, the other co-chairwoman, said , &#8220;Many people don&#8217;t realize that even<br \/>\nin Upstate New York, we have plenty of<br \/>\nsun to make solar a viable and economical<br \/>\nenergy choice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Funds to support the campaign are<br \/>\nprovided by the NYSERDA as part of the<br \/>\nstatewide NY-SUN Initiative. Community<br \/>\npartners Sustainable Saratoga and Green<br \/>\nConscience Home &amp; Garden have signed<br \/>\non to promote awareness of the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Several community workshops will be<br \/>\nheld over the next few months to further<br \/>\nexplain the process and help people enroll<br \/>\nin the Solarize Saratoga program.<\/p>\n<p>Homeowners and businesses who sign up<br \/>\nfor solar installations by Oct. 7 will be able<br \/>\nto take advantage of group rates below market<br \/>\nprices. The more customers who sign up,<br \/>\nthe lower the price will be, city officials said.<br \/>\nFor more information, visit www.solarizesaratoga.org.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said Solarize campaigns nationwide<br \/>\nhave rolled out to hundreds of<br \/>\ncommunities, led by government agencies<br \/>\nand community organizations, reaching<br \/>\nthousands of households and installing over<br \/>\n8 megawatts of solar power. Communities<br \/>\nthat participate in Solarize campaigns stay<br \/>\neducated and involved after the campaigns<br \/>\nwrap up.<\/p>\n<p>Solarize Saratoga is a nine-month program<br \/>\nspearheaded by the city with support<br \/>\nfrom community partners Green Conscience<br \/>\nHome and Garden and Sustainable<br \/>\nSaratoga.
