For the soft opening, there was no<br \/>\nadvertising beforehand, not even a sign to<br \/>\nlet people know he was there. But, there<br \/>\nwas no turning back.<\/p>\n<p>Reardon is excited about the new space.<br \/>\n&#8220;There is room to linger,&#8221; he said, as the<br \/>\nstore is brighter, and the stock is more<br \/>\nspread out and easier to see. The availability<br \/>\nof parking is also a big plus.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Some things, like a complete set of<br \/>\nAll-Clad cookware, are not conducive to<br \/>\nwalking four blocks&#8221; to street parking,<br \/>\nhe noted.<\/p>\n<p>Reardon has been with the shop for 12<br \/>\nyears, 11 as the owner. It is a family business.<br \/>\nHis son, John, and daughter-in-law,<br \/>\nAudrey, are also involved and his wife,<br \/>\na business professor at the SUNY Delhi<br \/>\nsatellite campus at Schenectady County<br \/>\nCommunity College, helps out part time.<br \/>\nThere are six part-time employees but<br \/>\nReardon hopes it translates into some<br \/>\nfull-time positions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Before taking on the shop, Reardon was<br \/>\nin the restaurant business most of his life.<br \/>\nHis accountant introduced him to the previous<br \/>\nowners, Andrea and Dave LeFrance,<br \/>\nand the rest is history.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This had all the things I love about<br \/>\ncooking but I don&#8217;t have to cook,&#8221; he said.<br \/>\nThe store sells a variety of items, both<br \/>\nAmerican-made and imported, including<br \/>\nAll-Clad pots and pans, made in the USA;<br \/>\nLeCreuset French ovenware; Emile Henri<br \/>\nclay bakeware, also from France; Wusthof<br \/>\nand Zwilling-J.A.Henkels German knives;<br \/>\nand Shun knives from Japan.
