Courtesy Chamber of Southern Saratoga County\" width=\"194\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/saratogabusinessjournal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2017\/02\/southern-chamber-board-jenifer-marten-vc-194x300.jpg 194w, https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/saratogabusinessjournal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2017\/02\/southern-chamber-board-jenifer-marten-vc-664x1024.jpg 664w, https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/saratogabusinessjournal\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/48\/2017\/02\/southern-chamber-board-jenifer-marten-vc.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 194px) 100vw, 194px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-29296\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jenifer Lynne Martin is chairperson of the Chamber of Southern Saratoga County board.<br \/>Courtesy Chamber of Southern Saratoga County<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The Chamber of Southern Saratoga County (CSSC) traces its roots to a local business organization founded in 1967 to support the twin towns of Clifton Park and Halfmoon, once considered rural \u201cflyover country\u201d to people headed to more popular destinations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Some 50 years later, the 1,070-member organization is the Capital Region\u2019s third largest chamber, serving 18 communities.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It is a leader in the marine, manufacturing, agriculture and transportation sectors, and its Saratoga County Community Development Program has provided a new perspective on \u201cbottom-up\u201d economic development, according to its president and CEO, Pete Bardunias.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He said to better direct the organization\u2019s programs, the Chamber 2017 strategic plan is based on the \u201c3Cs\u201d\u2014Connections, Commerce and Community.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>This approach looks at things from the voice of the \u201ccustomer\u201d (member), concentrating chamber efforts in areas that provide the most value for the membership investment, based on input from focus groups and workshops.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">To facilitate these changes, staff roles and responsibilities have changed also, he said.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Working alongside Bardunias are Vice President of Marketing and Membership Connections Nigar Hale, Vice President of Community and Professional Development Liz Roggenbuck, Operations Manager Sheila Whinnery, Membership Consultant Sandy McAlonie and several part-time staff for the Information Center at the Northway Exit 9 rest area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Leading the board this year is Chairwoman Jenifer Lynne Marten, an AVP\/commercial relationship manager at Ballston Spa National Bank (BSNB). <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><!--more-->She joined BSNB in 2005 and is currently responsible for helping businesses with their lending needs.\u00a0Active with the Chamber for more than 12 years, Marten has served as a past ambassador as well as a member of the Leadership Committee where she oversaw one of the chamber\u2019s leads groups.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">She was the 2015 and 2016 chairperson for the Women in Business Committee.
