Interior designers and home d\u00e9cor studios in Saratoga County are producing some of the hottest designs and furnishings in the Capital District.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bold colors is one trend, said Jamie Davies, who, with her mother, Janet Longe, owns 23rd and Fourth design studio at 138 Excelsior Ave., Saratoga Springs, in the new Empire Run commercial and residential complex. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNavy is the new black,\u201d said Davies, adding that people will see bold pops of color cropping up in walls and accessories in rooms throughout the home. Unexpected places will include kitchen appliances, sinks, oven hoods and wall coverings.<\/span><\/p>\n

Traditional oriental floor coverings are being paired with modern wall art, lighting fixtures and clean minimalist lines in furnishings, cabinetry and other architectural designs. Those trends will be big in 2018, according to Longe.<\/span><\/p>\n

Textured wall coverings are also making a return, she said. The newer papers are textured and imprinted with designs reflective of the more contemporary stylized images that are more influenced by technology and digitalized graphic art.<\/span><\/p>\n

Longe, Davies and staff are catering to clients from Loudonville to Lake George, with a continually growing clientele in Saratoga County.<\/span><\/p>\n

Julie Maleski Putzel, owner of JMP Interiors in Clifton Park, also said bold pops of color will be a prevalent trend in 2018. She said consumers will see the color Saffron and variations of mustard and yellows as the major shade for interiors.<\/span><\/p>\n

She said on a recent trip to Manhattan, mustard tones and saffron were in evidence at retail stores and professional design studios throughout the city, ranging from clothing and accessories to headboards, linens, cookware and china.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m also noticing a shift away from a complete farmhouse look, leaning toward a blend of a few rustic pieces to balance a clean modern interior,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her own home in Jonesville is a 150-year old, two-story structure with an expansive front veranda and an interior that is a blend of vintage and contemporary.\u00a0 <\/span>Her dining area combines hurricane lamps hanging from sconces at either end of the room, with a contemporary chandelier suspended above the hardwood plank table beneath. <\/span><\/p>\n

Another trend that Maleski Putzel sees gaining popularity are 3-D tiles for backsplashes. She calls them the new \u201cit\u201d item for the coming year. <\/span><\/p>\n

Maleski Putzel said a home should reflect the personality and lifestyle of its owner, and her goal with clients is to always stay true to their tastes and wishes.<\/span><\/p>\n
