There\u2019s always something that needs to be treated. The goal of osteopathic medicine is to optimize health by restoring the normal structure and function of the body,\u201d said Scarabino.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Scarabino said osteopathic physicians treat patients by looking at the whole picture before prescribing medical treatment. They use a hands-on approach to identify structural problems and support the body\u2019s natural tendency toward good health and healing. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Scarabino can treat<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>patients with musculoskeletal injuries and sport injuries, in addition long term chronic problems. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI knew it was my calling to become a doctor. When I learned about osteopathic medicine, I knew this is what I wanted to do,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe goal of osteopathic medicine is to optimize health by restoring the normal structure and function of the body,\u201d Scarbino said. \u201cOsteopathic manipulative medicine is a diagnostic and therapeutic practice of medicine that focuses on wellness. Instead of just treating specific symptoms, Osteopathic physicians concentrate on treating you as a whole.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\"><!--more-->\u201cAlong with prescribing medical treatment, osteopathic physicians use osteopathic manipulative treatment, which is hands-on care to identify structural problems, and support the body\u2019s natural tendency toward good health and healing, while also enhancing the body\u2019s ability to fight disease by stimulating the immune system,\u201d said Scarabino.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The treatment is not limited to sports pain, injuries, and recovery.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It also treats back, neck, and joint pain, nerve pain, numbness, and tingling, pregnancy and postpartum pain, infant issues, digestive problems, sinus disorders, TMJ, chronic ear infections, headaches and migraines, concussion and post-concussion syndrome, respiratory problems, post-operative recovery, and stress and anxiety.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">After completing her education<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, Scarabino, was mentored by leaders in the profession. She was awarded a teaching fellowship, where she assisted in teaching anatomy and osteopathic practices and principles. She then completed her Family Residence training at St.Clare\u2019s Hospital in Schenectady and returned to the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine for an additional year. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIn my experience, I have seen osteopathic treatment give hope to many with chronic problems that have not been helped by conventional or alternative treatments. It is awesome to be able to offer relief from pain and suffering with less or no medication and prevent the need for surgery,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Scarabino said she feels Saratoga is the perfect place to be practicing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cWhat better place to live, work, and play.
