Campbell<\/p>\n<p>Rod and Amy Sutton have purchased the two-story, 34,000-square-foot Blackmer Building at 28 Clinton Ave. In Saratoga Springs.<\/p>\n<p>Sale price was $2.54 million, according to a deed recorded Oct. 6 in the Saratoga County Clerk\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>Tenants include the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce and Clements Insurance Brokers Inc.<\/p>\n<p>Sutton is president of Sutton and Tarantino Insurance Agency Inc., which was sold a month ago to Adirondack Trust Co. under a succession plan that would assure the continuation of jobs for the firm\u2019s employees.<\/p>\n<p>As a native Saratogian, Sutton said he believes in the economic welfare of the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have seen and helped this community to grow, so we are reinvesting in it,\u201c he said.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Sutton\u2019s wife Amy is a Realtor with Roohan Realty\u2019s commercial division. Together the Suttons own a number of office and apartment buildings in Saratoga County.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Roohan, who Sutton described as \u201ca good friend,\u201d was the previous owner.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmy had rented out most of the space at the Blackmer Building for Roohan Realty and was very familiar with it,\u201d Sutton said. \u201cIt was a fair deal on both the buyers\u2019 and seller\u2019s part.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Buying this building gave the Suttons an opportunity to invest in a smaller office space with parking and a location close to Broadway, he said.<\/p>\n<p>There are no renovation plans for the building, as Sutton said the general maintenance had been kept up-to-date by Roohan Properties.<\/p>\n<p>The office spaces are fully committed at this time, although 750 square feet will be available for lease soon, he said.<\/p>\n<p>The former Sutton agency\u2019s 2,400-square-foot office space at 17 Division St. in Saratoga Springs is available for lease as of Jan. 1 when Sutton vacates to join Adirondack Trust Insurance Agency at 31 Church St. The firm\u2019s second location at 441 Geyser Road in Ballston Spa is on the market now, Sutton said.<\/p>\n<p>While the Sutton and Tarantino name is now retired, Sutton himself does not intend to retire from insurance sales any time soon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe purpose in selling to The Adirondack Trust Co. was to offer perpetuation of the agency we have worked hard for over the years and to continue servicing the clients and companies we represent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Susan E.
