Paprocki, director of the Syracuse Small Business Association District.<\/p>\n<p>In fiscal year 2017, KeyBank approved 32 loans at a Capital Region, leading value of $19.9 million, according to the SBA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSBA lending is critical to helping communities thrive, because it ensures that creditworthy businesses have access to the capital they need to start, expand and ultimately bolster the local economy and workforce,\u201d said Greg Novitsky, senior SBA relationship manager, Capital Region, KeyBank. \u201cWe\u2019re a proud SBA lending partner and excited the 2017 rankings reflect our commitment to help local businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to leading in the Capital Region, KeyBank topped all banks in the SBA\u2019s Syracuse District, representing 15.8 percent of the district\u2019s total dollars approved, the organization said.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The SBA\u2019s Syracuse District serves 34 counties in New York, including Albany, Columbia, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie and Warren counties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith loan program fee reductions in effect and 64 active lenders, small businesses in Upstate New York are accessing the affordable capital they need to start and expand,\u201d said Paprocki. \u201cWe anticipate building on this past year\u2019s momentum so that in 2018 more Capital Region entrepreneurs will use SBA financing to create jobs and invest in their businesses and communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Syracuse District of the SBA provides small businesses with free counseling and advice, financial assistance through government-backed loans, management and technical assistance, and minority business development.<\/p>\n<p>KeyCorp\u2019s roots trace back 190 years.
