For almost half a century, The Wesley Community, located at 131 Lawrence St. in Saratoga Springs, has offered care and housing for seniors and aging adults. Though the organization is well known for the services it offers to elderly patients, its outpatient therapy program is open to patients of all ages.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Wesley community is a 36-acre, nonprofit agency offering a broad variety of services. The senior-care services the organization is known for include providing market rate, affordable housing for independent seniors, as well as enriched living apartments for seniors who desire additional support, and in-home health care services, short-term rehabilitation and long-term nursing care.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Though the organization started as a facility dedicated to providing independent housing and nursing care to seniors, it\u2019s since expanded to include the multiplex of services. According to Jennifer Runkel, director of outpatient therapy, the Wesley Community \u201chas continually evolved and changed to meet the demands and needs of the surrounding community.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, the outpatient physical therapy program, which is for everyone from young children to elderly adults, has an expansive list of services, such as physical, occupational, speech, aquatic therapy, and comprehensive preschool evaluations. The program offers specialty treatments such as orthopedics, sports medicine, back injuries, fall prevention and more. Some of the therapies are for repetitive motion injuries, arthritic disorders, and custom splint fabrication.<\/p>\n

Along with their preschool evaluations, the organization also offers pediatric physical, occupational and speech therapy to babies and children under 18. They offer treatment for children with developmental, neurological or orthopedic needs from birth through adolescence.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Wesley Community prides themselves on their ability to offer all of these treatments on one site.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cProviding all of these services together allows Wesley to provide a unique comprehensive approach to meeting functional goals. It also allows Wesley to develop a personal relationship with each patient throughout the entire treatment plan and serve as the one location that will meet any and all of their medical and rehabilitation needs,\u201d said Runkel.<\/p>\n

The Wesley Community also takes pride in being an independently operated outpatient facility. Because their services are free-standing, they are able to take full control of their operations,and better allocate resources across all aspects of the organization, which ultimately allows for the high-quality care they offer to each patient, she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Wesley Community has been a valuable resource for numerous families in the Capital Region over the past several decades and has helped patients continue to live a productive and fulfilling life despite the physical, occupational and speech challenges they may have experienced,\u201d said Runkel. \u201cOur convenient location and exceptional level of care has made our campus the go-to resource when seeking short-term rehabilitation or long-term medical care.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
