{"id":32725,"date":"2018-10-05T11:06:08","date_gmt":"2018-10-05T15:06:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/saratogabusinessjournal\/?p=32725"},"modified":"2018-10-05T14:14:13","modified_gmt":"2018-10-05T18:14:13","slug":"health-education-is-the-focus-of-local-summit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/saratogabusinessjournal\/2018\/10\/health-education-is-the-focus-of-local-summit\/","title":{"rendered":"Health Education Is The Focus Of Local Summit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In a push to strengthen healthcare education enrollment, Stat Staff Professionals Inc. and the Saratoga Chamber of Commerce are co-sponsoring the first Healthcare Education Summit in Saratoga Springs on Oct. 19.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The event is being held in the Peerless Room of the Embassy Suites in Saratoga Springs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is open to the public.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The event grew out of Stat Staff\u2019s education initiative to assist not only its own caregivers, but to enable all prospective nursing and allied health students to have access and aid to healthcare education, officials said.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cOur goal is to encourage students in our community to consider a career in healthcare, and to provide a means to connect, learn, and engage with prestigious schools in person,\u201d said co-organizer, Victoria McCartney of Stat Staff \u201cAs a staffing company, we are on the front lines of these shortages in healthcare professionals and that is why we\u2019ve decided to take a stand, starting with our community.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Our goal is two-fold; we want to encourage career paths that will improve this shortage but also, we want to help people find their passion.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Event co-organizer and registered nurse, Kristina Rolfes BSN, RN, stressed the importance of increasing the number of highly-educated nurses and healthcare professionals in the field:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cHealthcare professionals serve our community by caring for our loved ones in times when it\u2019s most needed and we need them now more than ever\u201d she said. \u201cWe act to be an advocate for those professionals by encouraging others to pursue a career who will ultimately stand by their side in the near future.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The event will feature at least a half a dozen schools and two guest speakers.
