Saratoga PLAN and Saratoga Apple are partnering to offer a unique race (and taste) in Saratoga County. The race will take place on Saturday, May 18, with a 5k run beginning at 9 a.m. and a kids\u2019 fun run at 10 a.m.
\nThe race will wind its way through Saratoga Apple\u2019s orchard, Route 29 in Schuylerville. The course is off-road and over uneven, grassy terrain. After the race, people can go to Saratoga Apple\u2019s tasting room that will have a special drink deal for runners, redeemable with coupon from registration packet. 9 Miles East Farm will be sell post-race food on site.

Code Blue, Saratoga\u2019s emergency winter shelter in partnership with local restaurant establishments and groups prepared and served over 8,500 meals to guests of the shelter this past winter, according to officials.
\nThe shelter operates from Nov. 15 to April 1 at Soul Saving Station Church on Henry Street.
\nProviding food security to shelter guests is supported by Longfellows Restaurant, Olde Bryan Inn, The Brook Tavern, Druthers Brewing Company, PJ\u2019s BBQ-SA, Esperanto, Cantina, Dominos, and The Mercantile Kitchen and Bar. Additional contributors include Saratoga Stronger, Hands and Feet Ministry, Knights of Columbus, Presbyterian New England Congregational Church, The Giving Circle, Knights of Columbus, Saratoga Elks Club, Saratoga Casino and Hotel, United Methodist Church of Saratoga Springs and Fingerpaint.
\nCode Blue will resume shelter operations in the late fall. Guests who were displaced by the recent closing of the seasonal shelter are connected to daily living supplies and services through the SOS Outreach Program and Drop-In Center on Walworth Street. Saratoga Hospital Volunteer Guild has awarded college scholarships of $1,500 each to five Saratoga County high school seniors who plan to pursue careers in healthcare.
\nThe recipients were selected for sharing the guild\u2019s dedication to education and community involvement. Three of the students have volunteered at Saratoga Hospital.
\nScholarship recipients are: Zeynep Cakmak, Shenendehowa High School, who will study biomedical engineering at Syracuse University; Jared Everleth, Schuylerville High School, who will major in biomedical sciences at Nazareth College in Rochester; Shrutti Kannaathal, Shenendehowa High School, who will major in health sciences at Stony Brook University; Marcus Ortiz, Saratoga Springs High School, who will major in biology at Columbia University in New York City; Yuchen Wang, Saratoga Springs High School, who received the Mary Jane Doyle Scholarship in memory of a much-beloved Guild member. Wang will major in biology at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie.
\nSince 1990, Saratoga Hospital Volunteer Guild has awarded $225,000 in scholarships to help support the next generation of healthcare providers. The program was created by longtime guild volunteer Yolanda Paolicelli.
