{"id":33862,"date":"2019-09-07T13:23:42","date_gmt":"2019-09-07T17:23:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/saratogabusinessjournal\/?p=33862"},"modified":"2019-09-09T09:54:18","modified_gmt":"2019-09-09T13:54:18","slug":"globalfoundries-malta-foundation-accepting-applications-for-its-annual-grant-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saratoga.com\/saratogabusinessjournal\/2019\/09\/globalfoundries-malta-foundation-accepting-applications-for-its-annual-grant-program\/","title":{"rendered":"GlobalFoundries-Malta Foundation Accepting Applications For Its Annual Grant Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The GlobalFoundries-Town of Malta Foundation is accepting grant applications for its next round of funding to support local community organizations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Applications for grant funding can be submitted electronically or may be downloaded and mailed to the foundation by Oct. 31. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The foundation plans to award approximately $160,000 in grants to selected organizations by the end of this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> Instructions and links for the application can be found at the foundation\u2019s website, sites.google.com\/site\/gfmaltafoundationorg\/home.\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> The GlobalFoundries-Malta Foundation manages an investment fund that enables annual grants to organizations, programs and projects that provide tangible benefits of a public nature to diverse groups serving the citizens of the Town of Malta including, not-for-profit corporations, charitable organizations, community arts and theater groups, community historical sites, special events, education programs, and sports and recreation activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Each year, the foundation looks for projects that are creative, innovative, and inclusive in their scope and opportunities that will provide the maximum amount of benefit to the local Malta community.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In 2011, the foundation distributed its first round of grant funding by awarding a total of $37,500 to 13 local organizations. In 2012, the dollar amount and number of grants nearly doubled.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">By 2013, the investment corpus was fully funded, enabling annual grants of $160,000 on average, distributed among dozens of worthy local organizations. A comprehensive listing of previous grant winners is available at the following link: sites.google.com\/site\/gfmaltafoundationorg\/home\/previous-grant-recipients.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Since 2011, the GlobalFoundries-Malta Foundation has distributed over $1 million growing from 13 local organizations in 2011 to 35 or more each year since 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As part of the development of the Fab 8 project, GlobalFoundries has contributed a total of $5 million to fund two stand-alone charitable foundations: the GlobalFoundries-Town of Malta Foundation and the GlobalFoundries-Town of Stillwater Foundation. Both are managed by an independent board of directors and are actively working with local organizations to improve our community.
