As owner of Salon 8, she has brought her passion for hair color to Saratoga.<br \/>\nLoscalzo first opened her business in Vermont. Before that, she was working as a flight attendant. But everything changed after the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.<br \/>\n\u201cAfter the 9\/11 attacks, I was furloughed from my job and I thought what now? I decided to go to cosmetology school on a whim. I wasn\u2019t even that serious about it, but I found that I absolutely loved it. I have been doing hair ever since,\u201d she said.<br \/>\nLater, Loscalzo decided to make a change and thought Saratoga would work as a new location. She likes that it is close enough to Vermont for her loyal customers to travel to her and at the same time, it gives her a bigger pool of clients.<br \/>\n\u201cBeing right off of (Northway) Exit 15, I\u2019ve been able to keep my Vermont customers who are willing to make the drive. I am starting to bring in more local people, and of course I am so thankful for that,\u201d said Loscalzo.<!--more--><br \/>\nThe salon is on the first floor of Loscalzo\u2019s home on Loughberry Road in Saratoga Springs, where she has worked hard to create a comfortable space with an upscale salon feel.<br \/>\n\u201cIt has a separate entrance and is perfect for being able to maintain all of the safety standards,\u201d said Loscalzo.<br \/>\nShe schedules by appointment only and has two to three clients per day. It allows for optimum COVID-19 safety precautions. She also requires masks, temperature checks, and frequent sanitizing.<br \/>\nTrust, Loscalzo said, is something that she feels has made her successful in the industry.<br \/>\n\u201cI am always straightforward with my clients and they trust my judgement. A lot of time someone will say just color my hair and don\u2019t take anything off, but I always clean it up because it is part of the process,\u201d she said.<br \/>\nThe salon is open Monday through Thursday by appointment only.
