According to Dr. Shamosh, this location will allow him to tap into the growth of the Malta community as well as provide resources of award-winning St. Peter\u2019s Health Partners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe opportunity here in Malta is to be in a place where business, including nanotechnology, is flourishing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are always looking for opportunities to meet the needs of growing communities,\u201d said Meg Doherty, a practice manager focused on primary care and development for five of the past 10 years that St. Peter\u2019s Health Partners has been serving the Capital Region.<\/p>\n<p>Doherty said that with St. Peter\u2019s practices in Clifton Park and Saratoga Springs, \u201cit made sense to get involved in Malta, both for families and business folks in general.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"\"><b><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"s2\"><!--more--><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/span>In mid-October Shamosh opened his practice above the SEFCU branch on Route 9.<\/p>\n<p>Another role he plays is \u201cserving as the gatekeeper to evaluate patients fully and establish a personal connection,\u201d he said. \u201cThen we can bring together and coordinate any needed sub-specialists, thus reducing fragmentation of care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSt. Peter\u2019s Hospital has a vast and growing network of specialty and ancillary services that Dr. Shamosh can his connect patients with,\u201d said Doherty.<\/p>\n<p>To date St. Peter\u2019s has established 185 locations with 11,000 employees. When the opportunity presented itself in Malta, Shamosh said he was quick to take advantage of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSt. Peter\u2019s had the need and I had the desire to be in this area,\u201d said Shamosh. \u201cMy job is to have St. Peter\u2019s Health practices up and running and successful with everything they need to have them in front of their patients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shamosh will add two or three additional practitioners and a support staff of five or six to greet and register patients, he said. A nurse practitioner has been hired and is now seeing patients, and Dr. Shamosh expects to be fully staffed within six months.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are open for new patients,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Shamosh, a fellow and laureate of the American College of Physicians, has provided primary care to adults across the northern Adirondack region for 25 years.
