Even<br \/>\nthough summer is over and so is track season that doesn&#8217;t mean that you can&#8217;t<br \/>\nfind fun and interesting things to do all over Saratoga.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wine, Food and Ferraris<\/b><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re into food and wine, why not check out The Wine<br \/>\nFood and Ferrari Festival being held at SPAC this weekend, Sept 10-11<sup>th<\/sup>. There will be wines, gourmet food and<br \/>\nexotic cars&#8211;an unbeatable combination.<\/p>\n<p><b>Want Some Cheese with That Wine?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Not into wine? Then how about some cheese? This weekend is the Washington County<br \/>\nCheese Tour and I have to admit, I&#8217;ve been waiting for this one! It&#8217;s a driving tour of 5 different<br \/>\ndairy farms in Washington County.<br \/>\nThe farms are located close enough to each other so that you can visit<br \/>\nmore than one, and the tour lasts for two days. So if you don&#8217;t get to one of the farms one day then you can<br \/>\nvisit the next! The tour is<br \/>\nfree but there is an enhanced experience that includes actual cheese making and<br \/>\nother special events. Associate<br \/>\nmembership is required and cost $75. Guess I&#8217;ll have to wait for next year for<br \/>\nthat!<\/p>\n<p><b>Are You a Leaf Peeper?<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Bring your camera, there should be lots of photo<br \/>\nopportunities on the way to the farms and at the farms themselves. It is close to peak fall foliage time. Which brings me to my next fall<br \/>\nactivity&#8230;.<\/p>\n<p>Then taking in fall foliage in the Adirondacks will be for<br \/>\nyou! There are several driving<br \/>\ntrips that will give you plenty of opportunities to take some stunning photos<br \/>\nof mountains ablaze in color. You<br \/>\ncan drive by lush farm fields and expansive lakesides. Here is a list of the most popular<br \/>\ndriving routes for fall foliage:<\/p>\n<p><b>Prospect Mountain Memorial Highway and 100-Mile View<\/b> <\/p>\n<p>For 100-Mile View:<\/p>\n<p>Take I-87 to exit 21, travel 1 mile north on Rte 9, left at<br \/>\nthe state highway entrance.<\/p>\n<p>For the Prospect Mountain Hiking Trail<\/p>\n<p>To reach the trail from Lake George Village, turn let on<br \/>\nMontcalm St. to Smith St.; turn south \u00bd block the trailhead sign. <\/p>\n<p><b>Warrensburg to Indian Lake on Rte 28<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Head northwest on Rte 28 over the Hudson River, through<br \/>\nWevertown and North Creek, along the Hudson River. There are several overlooks to take in the view. And while in the Indian Lake region why<br \/>\nnot take in the village for lunch.<br \/>\nThere are some very good restaurants in the village and if you&#8217;re there<br \/>\nearly morning or early evening you just might see a moose. The Great Adirondack Moose festival<br \/>\nwill be held in Indian Lake on September 24<sup>th<\/sup> and 25th and should prove to be a good time, with lots of family friendly activities.<\/p>\n<p><b>Lake George and Hague on Rte 9N<\/b><\/p>\n<p>If you exit the Northway at Exit 22 to Route 9 north you can<br \/>\ndrive along the Lake George shoreline through Diamond Point and Bolton<br \/>\nLanding. If you continue on Route<br \/>\n9N over Tongue Mountain to Silver Bay.<br \/>\nHere you can stop at another state overlook for another amazing view. The<br \/>\ndrive then continues to Hague.<\/p>\n<p><b>Brant Lake to Hague on Rte 8<\/b><\/p>\n<p>If you travel I-87 to exit 25 then go east on Rte 8 to Brant<br \/>\nLake you can drive along the shoreline.<br \/>\nContinue on Rte 8 through Pharaoh Wilderness and Dixon Forest. You can see some incredible views of<br \/>\nLake George from Town Park in the village of Hague.<\/p>\n<p><b>Lake George to Chestertown on Rte 9<\/b> <\/p>\n<p>From I-87 take exit 2 north on Rte 9 through Warrensburg to<br \/>\nChestertown about 7 miles past the junction of Rtes 9 and 28. Along the way there is some beautiful<br \/>\nforest scenery. If you take the<br \/>\nleft turn at the junction of Rte 8 and 9 stay on Rte 9, it will take you around<br \/>\nLoon Lake.<\/p>\n<p>For other road trips don&#8217;t forget about some of the other<br \/>\nregions here in Upstate. <\/p>\n<p>1. <b>The Leatherstocking Region<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Which includes Glimmerglass Lake and Cooperstown<\/p>\n<p>2. <b>Adirondacks Region <\/b><\/p>\n<p>This includes Lake Placid where you can see not only<br \/>\nbreathtaking scenery but also the Olympic training venues. Also closer to home, there are areas in<br \/>\nand around Saratoga Springs that will have some fantastic fall foliage<br \/>\nviews. Don&#8217;t forget Crown Point,<br \/>\nTiconderoga and Lake Champlain.<\/p>\n<p><b>Pick a Peck of Apples<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Looking for a family friendly activity that won&#8217;t keep the<br \/>\nkids cooped up in the car too long or looking to stretch your legs while leaf<br \/>\npeeping? Then try one of the many<br \/>\napple orchards here in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a list of just a few of the many orchards close to<br \/>\nhome:<\/p>\n<p>1.<b> Bowman Orchards<\/b> in Rexford<\/p>\n<p>Offers you pick, roadside stand, farmer&#8217;s market, cider and<br \/>\nspecial events<\/p>\n<p>2. <b>Charlton Road Orchard<\/b> in Ballston Lake<\/p>\n<p>Offers roadside stand<\/p>\n<p>3. <b>Devoe&#8217;s Rainbow Orchards<\/b> in Clifton Park<\/p>\n<p>Offers you pick, and roadside stand<\/p>\n<p>4. <b>Lakeside Cider Mills<\/b> Farms in Ballston Lake<\/p>\n<p>Offers farm market, cider, and country store<\/p>\n<p>5. <b>Lindsey&#8217;s Country Store<\/b> in Clifton Park<\/p>\n<p>Offers roadside stand, farm market and cider<\/p>\n<p>6. <b>Saratoga Apple<\/b> in Schuylerville <\/p>\n<p>Offers roadside stand, you pick, farm market and cider<\/p>\n<p>As fall goes on there will be more posts about things to do<br \/>\nin and around Saratoga.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a favorite thing to do in the fall months please<br \/>\nfeel free to share.<\/p>\n<p>Have a place you&#8217;ve been curious about?<\/p>\n<p>Been to a place that was so amazing you want to share?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s September and the weather is turning cooler which means lots of outdoor activities.
