A hard freeze is expected across Saratoga county and surrounding areas of upstate New York tonight as temperatures are forecast to fall into the upper teens and lower 20’s by early Tuesday morning. Take necessary precautions to protect sensitive outdoor vegetation that may have sprouted or bloomed early due to last week’s unseasonably warm temperatures.
In addition to the sub-freezing temperatures to start the day, the National Weather Service in Albany, New York has issued a Fire Weather Watch for the entire region from late Tuesday morning through early Tuesday evening. Gusty northwest winds and low relative humidity values will create critical fire weather conditions across the region.
Please refrain from burning anything outdoors and use extreme caution with any open flames, including barbecue grills and cigarette butts. A small spark in the very dry fuels on the ground could cause a large forest fire to rapidly develop.
