There are some fun and different choices for activities this week. From educational programs on how to deal with anger and develop coping skills to art workshops and Lego clubs there is something going on for everyone!
1. Do you have a child that needs to learn manage their anger? Saratoga Center for the Family will start a free 6-week program in “Anger Management for Children and Their Parents” at the Saratoga Springs Public Library starting this Wednesday, January 25th. Participants will learn how to identify triggers as well as develop coping skills, healthy expressions of anger and de-escalation techniques. The program will run 1/25, 2/1, 8, 15, 29, & 3/7 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Registration is required, call 584-7860 opt. 3.
2. Sesame Street Live presents 1-2-3 Imagine! with Elmo and Friends is at the Glens Falls Civic Center Tuesday and Wednesday, January 24th and 25th at 7pm.
3. Alphabet Soup at the Children’s Museum on Thursday, January 26th from 10:30 – 11:00am. Starting with the letter A, each week kids will learn a new letter of the alphabet through crafts, games, stories, songs and more. This multidimensional language experience is a fun way to reinforce early literacy in preschoolers!
4. Also on Thursday, children in grades 3-5 are invited to the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library at 3:30pm for Lego Club. Participants will create a LEGO display based on a theme within a specified time limit. Registration is required. If you have any questions, please contact the Library at 371-8622.
5. Saturday, January 28th at The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls check out The YOU Collection! Their Saturday Morning Workshop for Ages 6-14 from 10:30am-noon. What do you collect? Cat figures? Rocks? Cars? Bring objects from your collection and create a still-life drawing or painting with your collection as the model in the Art Studio. Admission is FREE.
